Sickness While on Vacation. Where an employee on vacation becomes ill to the extent that he or she requires the services of a medical practitioner or licensed chiropractor, provided such illness is shown to be in excess of three days, such employee shall be allowed to use his or her sick leave credits for the period the medical practitioner or licensed chiropractor states he or she would have been unable to carry out his or her duties at work.

The same applies if the employee gets sick in a country within the EEA, provided the sickness is serious to the extent that hospitalization is required. If the employee fulfils his duty to give notice and the sickness lasts more than 3 full consecutive days in Iceland or 6 full consecutive days within the EES-area, the employee obtains the right to extra vacation equal to the time which can be verified that his sickness lasted. Under these circumstances the employee shall always verify his sickness with a certificate from a medical doctor. Extra vacation shall, if possible, be granted at the time the employee wishes and shall be granted in the period between 2 May through 15 September, unless special circumstances prohibit this.

  • Sick Leave While on Vacation An employee who while on vacation is incapacitated for one (1) or more days due to personal illness or injury may charge such days to accrued sick leave. In such event, the employee promptly shall notify his department, and upon return to duty shall substantiate the need for, and use of, sick leave.

  • Weeks Vacation Subject to Article 17.08 and Article 17.01 (a) (ii), employees shall be entitled to take five (5) weeks vacation leave with pay during the first and subsequent complete fiscal years following the date in which they complete fourteen (14) years of service. Income tax shall be deducted weekly from the employee's earnings increased by the amount of vacation pay.
