Letter of Understanding – Training. In lieu of retroactivity of wages, the Employer agrees to provide CUPE with a one-time payment in the amount of $26,000, to be administered by CUPE, to recognize the completion of training by bargaining unit members by August 30, 2021, as follows:
Letter of Understanding – Training. The Company agrees to recognize a list of Welder 2’s to a maximum number of twenty-four (24) employees. In this regard, the Company agrees that any employees who, on their own initiative, take the train- ing and testing and successfully obtain their CWB All Position Stick Welding Certification, will be reimbursed their tuition costs and will be added to the list of Welder 2’s, up to the said maximum of twenty- four (24) employees, inclusive of those employees who have earlier obtained their Certification. If 24 employees hold their CWB All Position Stick Welding Certifica- tion, any other employees who, on their own initiative, take the train- ing and testing and successfully obtain his CWB All Position Stick Welding Certification, will be eligible for Tuition reimbursement pur- suant to Article 13 of the Collective Agreement, but will not be added to the list of Welder 2’s. Such employee will only be eligible to be added to the list of Welder 2’s in the event of a vacancy on the list. It is understood and agreed that all Welder 2s who are recognized as such on the list of Welder 2s provided for above must maintain their certification in CWB All Position Stick Welding to retain status on the said list. It is acknowledged and agreed that maintaining this certification requires recertification every two years. The Company agrees to pay for fees involved for any Welder 2 in respect of his or her first attempt at recertification. If the Welder 2 fails such first attempt at recertification, he or she will be responsible for all costs involved in making further attempts at recertification, including any training costs that may be involved. Any Welder 2 who fails recertification or otherwise does not maintain his or her status as a certified CWB All – 70 – Position Stick Welder will be removed from the list of Welder 2s at the time certification lapses. Such employee will not be eligible to be again included in the list of Welder 2s until certification status is again obtained and a vacancy exists on the list that can be filled by the said employee.
Letter of Understanding – Training. Training shall be provided by the company to the employees sufficient to perform the duties required of the position. This letter will confirm our understanding during negotiations that the employer will meet with the bargaining unit editorial representative at least twice a year to discuss training and retraining associated with the implementation of new technology. During the life of this agreement, the employer will offer mandatory training to all newsroom staff for multi-media content. This may include multi-media forms such as blogs, podcasts and videography; and skills such as writing or copy editing for the Web and posting content to the Web. The employer will supply, in as timely a manner as possible, in-house training in photography for any reporter who wishes it, and writing or copy editing for any photographer who wishes it.

Within thirty (30) days of ratification of the 2005 – 2008 renewal Collective Agreement the parties shall meet to discuss the means by which training funds are allocated. Letter of Understanding – Vacation of “D” “C” Shift Subject to Article 21, the Employer agrees to permit each shift Engineer the opportunity to take vacation time off the “D” and “C” shift back to back twice in the calendar year provided that the Maintenance and Relief replacement be scheduled to a forty (40) hour week only.

This agreement shall be in effect for the period January 1, 2003 until December 31, 2003. The renewal of this agreement shall be at the mutual consent of both parties.
Letter of Understanding – Training. The Company will develop a training plan to train for additional rate levels. The training plan is for 3, 5 and 10 point machine centers with opportunities provided by seniority to those who sign semi-annual training postings. The training plan will be reviewed with the Union on a quarterly basis to review progress and make any changes required to achieve objectives.
