Shift Engineer. 1. A Shift Engineer is herein defined as a stationary engineer who holds a 2nd class certificate and who assumes responsibility for the Central Plant and related activities on his/her shift. For whatever period he/she is appointed, he/she shall be paid the regular Shift Engineer rate which is the classification rate plus the Shift Engineer Premium outlined in Wage Schedule I.
Shift Engineer. Promotion on vacancy with selection made from Senior Utilities Operator candidates who hold a 2nd Class Stationary Engineer's certificate, as per Clause 14.08 of the current agreement.

Shift Engineer. A Shift Engineer is herein defined as a stationary engineer who holds a class certificate and who assumes responsibility for the Central Plant and related activities on his shift. The Shift Engineer shall receive, for all hours that he works in the capacity of Shift Engineer on any one of the daily shifts, a Shift Engineer premium of fifty- five cents per hour. Those Shift Engineers who have been appointed to serve on an ongoing basis will continue to receive the premium mentioned above through any period of “sick leave” and through the annual vacation period. Those Shift Engineers who have been appointed to serve for a temporary period (any position where the duration is expected to be less than one calendar year) will receive the premium mentioned above while actively performing as a Shift Engineer but will not receive the premium through periods of “sick leave” or through the annual vacation.

In addition, they will have their pension and insured benefits based on the regular Shift Engineer rate. Those Shift Engineers who have been appointed to serve for a temporary period (any position where the duration is expected to be less than one calendar year) will receive their regular base rate plus a Temporary Shift Engineer premium which is the difference in cents per hour between their base rate and the appropriate regular Shift Engineer rate. Sick leave, annual vacation, pension and insured benefits will be based on their regular base rate and will not include their Temporary Shift Engineer premium. Letter of Understanding # Between Local and the University of Waterloo The parties agree to continue an ad hoc commit- tee made up of three members selected from the membership of Local employed in Food Services and representing both work groups, and three members from management selected by the Director of Food Services.
