All vacancies and newly-created positions for teaching, extra-duty, supervisory, and administrative jobs shall be posted for five (5) working days in each building with the teacher sign-in sheet prior to the position being filled.* The following procedures shall apply:

Vacancies and Newly Created Positions. The following procedure will govern job posting, bidding, selection and award, for all job classifications covered by this Agreement.
Vacancies and Newly Created Positions. A. A vacancy shall be defined as any bargaining unit position newly created or not currently filled which the Board intends to fill. Any employee who has completed their probationary period may apply for a posted vacancy. Permanent vacancies shall be filled within thirty (30) days of the application deadline, provided there are qualified applicants.

All job vacancies and newly created positions in the bargaining unit shall be posted on employee’s bulletin boards within ten (10) working days of the vacancy, and the employees shall be given five (5) working days time in which to make application to fill the vacancy or new position. The senior employee making application shall be transferred to fill the vacancy or new position, provided the employee has the necessary qualifications to perform the duties of the job involved. Newly created positions or vacancies are to be posted in the following manner:

The selection of applicants for the maintenance skilled work classification, whether inside or outside the bargaining unit, is reserved to the district and is not subject to the grievance procedure. Applicants from within the bargaining unit who are qualified will be guaranteed an interview for the maintenance skilled work classification. Newly created positions or vacancies are to be posted in the following manner:

For the purposes of this contract, a vacancy or opening occurs upon notification to the Board of the creation of a new position, retirement, resignation, death, promotion or termination of a person holding a bargaining unit position. Appointments to a temporary or acting position will not create a vacancy.
Vacancies and Newly Created Positions. CPD shall provide the Guild with written notice when any bargaining unit position is to remain vacant, or is changed in terms of pay or hours within 30 days of the decision to maintain the vacancy or change the terms and conditions of the position.
