Small Necessities Leave Act. Nothing contained in this Agreement shall be deemed to abridge any right conferred on any member of the bargaining unit or on either of the parties hereto by the Small Necessities Leave Act (Chapter 149, §52D of the General Laws) as the same may be amended from time to time.

Small Necessities Leave Act. Eligible members will be granted leave in accordance with the Massachusetts Small Necessities Leave Act, M.G.L. c. 149, s. 52D, and may use available Personal Leave or Sick Leave for absences granted under this section. An eligible employee may elect to take leave granted under this section in half day increments, however, accumulated Personal or Sick Leave may only be substituted if the reason for the leave would normally have qualified for paid leave. Where an employee’s paid leave has been has been exhausted such leave is unpaid.

Small Necessities Leave Act. All provisions of the Small Necessities Leave Act outlined in Chapter 149, Section 52 D of the Massachusetts General laws as implemented on May 6, 1998, are incorporated into this Agreement.

Small Necessities Leave Act. Pursuant to Small Necessities Leave Act (SNLA), employees who are eligible to take FMLA leave (e.g. employees with at least one year of service with CP and who have worked at least 1250 hours in the previous twelve (12) months) are also entitled to take up to twenty-four (24) hours of unpaid leave per year, calculated on a rolling basis, in order to: • Participate in school activities directly related to the educational advancement of a son or a daughter of the employee, such as parent-teacher conference or interviewing for a new school; • Accompany the son or daughter of the employee to routine medical or dental appointments, such as check-ups or vaccinations; • Accompany an elderly relative (i.e., at least age 60) of the employee to routine medical or dental appointments or appointments for other professional services related to the elder’s care, such as interviewing at nursing or group homes. The twenty-four (24) hours of leave may be taken on an intermittent basis, in minimum increments of one-hour. An employee is required to provide their supervisor with at least seven (7) days notice of the need for the leave if the leave is foreseeable. If the necessity for the leave is not foreseeable, the employee is required to provide notice of the leave as soon as practicable. An employee taking SNLA leave may elect, or CP may require, that the employee apply accrued benefit time to the leave. The rights and benefits provided in this Article are intended to be consistent with and no greater than the rights and benefits afforded under M.G.L. c.149, sec. 52D.
Small Necessities Leave Act. Eligible employees covered by this agreement shall be entitled to leave in accordance with the Massachusetts Small Necessities Leave Act, M.G.L. c. 149, Section 52D. An employee may use accumulated paid leave for unpaid leave granted under this section. Where an employee’s paid leave allowances have been exhausted such leave shall be unpaid.

Small Necessities Leave Act. Notwithstanding anything in this agreement to the contrary, any unit member eligible for leave under state or federal law may exercise his or her rights to take Family and Medical Leave pursuant to the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (“FMLA”), the Massachusetts Parental Leave Act (MPLA) or to take Small Necessities Leave pursuant to the Massachusetts Small Necessities Leave Act (“SNLA”).
Small Necessities Leave Act. The Shore Educational Collaborative will adhere to the Small Necessities Leave Act. Employees will be required to use their existing leave time. In the event that an employee has exhausted their yearly-accrued leave time they may be granted additional leave under this act without pay. Employees will adhere to all of the policies and procedures of this Act as defined by the law and the Shore Educational Collaborative.
Small Necessities Leave Act. An eligible employee shall be entitled to up to twenty-four (24) hours of unpaid leave per contract year for reasons as provided by X.X. x. 149, §52D; a copy of the law may be obtained from the Superintendent’s office.
