Paid Leave for Union Activity. Each fiscal year the Judiciary shall provide a pool of paid leave days as set forth in Appendix C for employees designated by the Union to attend meetings, conventions and workshops. Such days shall be shared between the Support Staff Supervisory and Support Staff units. The following provisions shall apply:

Paid Leave for Union Activity. The President or Chapter Chairpersons shall have twenty-three (23) work days of paid leave per calendar year for the purpose of attending Union functions such as conventions, educational meetings or conferences. In addition to the above, the City shall grant the Union an aggregate total of thirty (30) work days of paid leave per calendar year to be divided among the Union member or members employed by the City and designated by the Union for the purpose of attending Union functions such as conventions, educational meetings or conferences. Subject to approval by Management based upon operational requirements, the Union may utilize the aforementioned paid leave provisions by notifying the HR Director no less than seven (7) calendar days prior to commencement of said leave, and provided no more than two (2) employees from any one (1) section are designated by the Union for said leave at any given time unless otherwise agreed to in writing between the City and the Union. Any authorized but unused Union leave credits may be carried over from an odd to an even numbered calendar year.
Paid Leave for Union Activity. The Judiciary shall provide an aggregate of two hundred (200) paid leave days per calendar year for employees in the bargaining unit designated by the Union to attend meetings, conventions, workshops, or other union activities, including but not limited to preparing for collective negotiations with management. Requests for such leave must be authorized by a designated Union Representative. Requests shall be submitted, in writing, to Appointing Authority Management, on notification forms provided by the Judiciary. Approval of such requests will be based on operational needs and will not be unreasonably denied. Reasonable maximum limitation not to exceed twenty-five (25) days per calendar year for such leave for any individual may be imposed. The Union may request an increase in the individual maximum limitation to thirty (30) days. The decision to grant the requested increase of the individual maximum is in the sole discretion of the Judiciary and is not grievable. The PANJ-CRP First Vice President and a representative of the Judiciary’s Labor and Employee Relations Section may meet quarterly for the term of this Agreement to track usage of Paid Leave for Union Activity.

Approval will not be granted if the absence interferes with the Employer’s ability to provide coverage during the requested time off or the operating needs of the agency cannot be met.

  • CULTURAL LEAVE FOR ABORIGINAL EMPLOYEES The Superintendent of Schools or their designate, may grant five (5) paid days per year leave with seven (7) days written notice from the employee to participate in Aboriginal Cultural event(s). Such leave shall not be unreasonably denied.

  • Use of Vacation Leave for Sick Leave Purposes The Employer may allow an employee who has used all of his or her sick leave to use vacation leave for sick leave purposes as provided in Article 12.2 A.   • Leave for Union Business The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence, without pay, to nurses selected by the Union to attend Union business including conferences, conventions and Provincial Committee meetings and to any nurse elected to the position of Local Co-ordinator. The cumulative total leave of absence, the amount of notice, the number of nurses that may be absent at any time from one area and the number of days (including those of the Local Co-ordinator) is set out in the Appendix of Local Provisions. During such leave of absence, a nurse's salary and applicable benefits or percentage in lieu of fringe benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the local Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the daily rate of the full-time nurse or in the amount of the full cost of such salary and percentage in lieu of fringe benefits of a part-time nurse except for Provincial Committee meetings which will be reimbursed by the Union. The Hospital will xxxx the local Union within a reasonable period of time. Part-time nurses will receive service and seniority credit for all leaves granted under this Article.
