LEAD HAND POSITION. The Company shall post twelve (12) Lead Hand positions, six (6) for days and six (6) afternoon shifts. The Lead Hand responsibilities over and above their regular duties are as follows:
1. ( A) Train staff
LEAD HAND POSITION. From time to time when required, as determined by Management, the position of Lead Hand may be available. The successful applicant will be selected based on skill, ability and qualifications. The function of this position will be to guide direct and oversee the workforce, as determined by Management.
LEAD HAND POSITION. All lead hand positions (full-time and temporary) will be posted under the normal posting procedure as outlined in Article 12 and based equally on the following criteria:
(a) Qualifications, productivity, experience and efficiency
(b) Job knowledge and skills
(c) Leadership and communication skills
(d) Attendance will be taken into consideration In the event that the above criteria are equal, seniority will be the determining factor. In the event that an employee applies for such posting, meets the criteria except for powered equipment training and is able to be trained for such powered equipment, the employee will be afforded training for a 30 day period. In the event that no applicants have the qualifications, Article 12.10 (a) will apply.

LEAD HAND POSITION. There will be one Lead Hand position. The Company will post this role externally and internally simultaneously. Selection of the Lead hand for the most qualified candidate will be based equally on the following criteria:
(a) Qualifications and experience
(b) Job knowledge and skills
(c) Leadership and communication skills
(d) Attendance will be taken into consideration if applicable In the event the evaluations under this criteria are equal between candidates, whether internal or external, seniority will be the determining factor. In the event that an employee who applies for such posting meets the criteria except for powered equipment training and is able to be trained for such powered equipment, the employee will be afforded training for a 30 day period. Subsequent Lead Hand vacancies shall follow the same above process.
LEAD HAND POSITION. (a) A Lead Hand is defined as a unionized staff who has been designated by the department manager to provide support and guidance to staff in the department, but does not replace the manager. They act as a liaison between the department manager and provide guidance to the department staff for operational, technical or project issues. They may be also be required to offer support to student employees for scheduling and training purposes.
(b) The Lead Hand will receive a $6,000.00 per annum stipend in addition to their regular rate of pay. This sum is pensionable, divided by 26 and paid out as part of the regular biweekly salary payments.
(c) The length of Lead Hand positions will be between three months to a maximum of a two-year term, which is eligible for renewable at the discretion of the Corporation.
LEAD HAND POSITION. The Club proposes to designate three existing positions as “Lead Hand” positions, one in each of the three following departments: - Kitchen (Head Chef - Lead Hand) - Dining Room (Head Waiter/Waitress - Lead Hand) - Bar (Head Bartender - Lead Hand) The incumbents of these positions will continue to perform the duties and responsibilities of their respective positions, including having the authority and responsibility, under the Manager, to: - recommend to the Manager, for her/his approval, the scheduling of staff in his/her department in light of the anticipated workload; - verify (by initialing) time-clock cards on a weekly basis against this schedule; - co-ordinate and direct the work and activities of all staff in his/her area of responsibility within the parameters of Club policies and daily procedures; - investigate on an immediate basis any issue or improper action by, between or among members of staff in her/his area of responsibility; - communicate or consult with the Club Manager on any issue, as deemed necessary, and to assist in the resolution of the issue. A “Lead Hand” will not initiate or perform any disciplinary action, which is the sole responsibility of the management of the Club. A “Lead Hand” will report directly to the Club Manager. All employees in the department will be required to take direction from a “Lead Hand”.

(E) House keeping standards NOTE: Responsibilities will not include disciplinary matters.
2. All Lead Hand positions will be full-time Material Handler positions. In filling such responsibilities a posting (except as noted in point 6) will be issued under the normal posting procedures as outlined in Article 14 and based on the following criteria:
(A) Job knowledge and skill
(B) Good people and communication skills
(C) Leadership ability
(D) Seniority
(E) Attendance
3. Lead Hands will be chosen from the Material Handler classification and will maintain all rights his seniority affords him within the Collective Agreement.
4. The wage rate for the Lead Hand responsibilities will be as established by the parties in Schedule A.
5. A Lead Hand orientation class will be held and given to all successful applicants. Note: It is agreed that for the first orientation class (and any subsequent modifications to the orientation) a member of the union will be present as an observer only.
6. Temporary Lead Hand vacancies of 2 weeks or greater will be filled according to the criteria of 14.12 (2) and will be used for purposes of relieving sickness, accident, vacation, leave of absence, maternity or parental leave. Temporary Lead Hand vacancies of less than 2 weeks or will be filled according to the criteria of 14.12 (2) and will be used for purposes of relieving sickness, accident, vacation, leave of absence, maternity or parental leave.
7. Special projects shall be posted and shall be for a minimum of 30 calendar days.
