Excessive Overtime. Subject to the workload and the number of such requests, the Employer must honor an employee's request not to work overtime and shall not arbitrarily deny such requests. However, if overtime is required and an employee has notified the supervisor (i.e. dispatcher, office manager, shop xxxxxxx) at the beginning of his shift that he does not want to work overtime that day, then the employee shall not be forced to work more than two (2) hours overtime in any one day. There shall be no overtime maximum for employees who do not give any notice at the beginning of their shift; provided however, notwithstanding the foregoing, when it is known to management that overtime work may be required on the Dock, the Employer shall make a reasonable effort to provide the affected employee(s) with as much advance notice as possible. Excessive Overtime. Where a junior employee is accumulating an excessive amount of overtime due to “man on the job” requirement, action will be taken to divert the overtime to more senior employees.
Excessive Overtime. The Company shall not knowingly leave an open/vacant job position for more than thirty (30) days, when such vacancy or work must be covered by overtime. The Company shall work to fill vacant spots or open positions when an employee leaves the bargaining unit, quits, or retires, to ensure such opening does not create excessive overtime. If such opening is a result of a short term or long term disability, the Company and Union will discuss such opening and whether it is necessary to fill temporarily.
