All training courses may be recognised as completed under prior learning knowledge at the discretion of Delta EMD Australia with documentation from the tradesperson to substantiate such experience. A Company developed competency assessment package will evaluate the model progression of the tradesperson. A tradespersons work performance will be deemed satisfactory if the most recent Performance Appraisal (within last 12 months) has no more than two ratings of 2 (Unsatisfactory) and no ratings of 1 (Poor) and there is no disciplinary action active.

Upon returning to work after attending technical trade school, apprentices shall be paid one-third (1/3) of the amount owing on the first pay period upon returning to work. The second third (1/3) shall be paid on the second pay period and the final third (1/3) on the third pay period. Tuition for apprenticeship training shall be reimbursed at fifty (50%) percent by the Employer if the apprentice achieves a final course mark of between eighty- five percent (85%) and one hundred percent (100%) on the apprenticeship course.
boilermakers whose work consists of laying out, cutting apart, building, or repairing boilers, tanks, drums, and locomotives; inspecting, patching, riveting, chipping, caulking, flanging, and flue work; building, repairing, removing, and applying steel cabs and running boards; laying out and fitting up any sheet iron or sheet steel work made of ten (10) gauge or heavier, including fronts and doors and truck frames; removing and applying all stay bolts, radials, flexible caps, sleeves, crown bolts, stay rods, and braces in boilers, tanks, and drums; operating punches and shears for shaping and forming; pneumatic stay bolt breakers, air rams and hammer, bull, jam, and yoke riveters; boilermakers’ work in connection with building and repairing of derricks, booms, and housings; I-beam, channel iron, angle iron, and T-iron work; all drilling, cutting, and tapping and operating rolls in connection with boilermakers’ work; building and repairing of metal pilots and headlight boards when made of steel plate; oxy-acetylene, thermite, and electric welding on work generally recognized as boilermakers’ work; and all other work generally recognized as boilermakers’ work. On running repairs, boilermakers may connect or disconnect any wiring, coupling, or pipe connections necessary to make or repair machinery or equipment.
