Specialized Health Care. 10.7.1 The District shall provide necessary in-service training upon request to each unit member who is, or shall be, required to assist or aide children with special health care needs.

Specialized Health Care. 10.8.1 Specialized physical health care services as used in this section include, but are not limited to the following procedures: urinary catheterization, gavage feeding, endotracheal or oral suctioning. These specialized physical health care procedures are further described in the Guidelines and Procedures for Meeting the Specialized Physical Health Care Needs of Students, California Department of Education, 1990.

Specialized Health Care. ‌ Definition: Specialized Health Care procedures are specific health care needs identified in a medical protocol that may be performed on a daily basis to ensure the health and well-being of a student.
Specialized Health Care. Students who need ongoing special health care shall be identified through the IEP process, a 504 plan or a physician’s order. For purposes of this provision, specialized health care does not include such tasks as: first aid, dispensing oral medication or dispensing oral inhalers. Such specialized health procedures shall be performed in the following ways: By the health clerk at the school site; By another classified employee, provided that the employee agrees to perform the service and the employee is compensated with a three percent (3%) stipend from the start of training to the end of the service. The District shall designate those unit members who receive the training in order to receive the stipend in accordance with established procedures and practices on file with Personnel Services. In all cases, the employee providing the service shall be provided training and will be held harmless from liability by the District as provided by law.
Specialized Health Care. The District shall make available to teachers a Health Risk List for returning students and entering Kindergarten students who register prior to school staff leaving for the summer. This list shall be made available to schools prior to the start of school each year, and an updated list provided as soon as reasonably possible after the start of school.

Specialized Health Care. 19.4.1 The District shall provide each unit member who is, or is likely, to be required to provide specialized health care training as deemed appropriate on a case by case basis.
Specialized Health Care. Specialized health care services mean those health services prescribed by the student's licensed physician requiring medically related training for the individual who performs the services and which are necessary during the school day to enable the student to attend school. These services include catheterization, gastric tube feeding, suctioning, or other services that require medically related training.
Specialized Health Care. The District shall, upon request, provide in-service training to each teacher who is or may be required to provide specialized health care. No teacher shall be required to provide specialized health care service if in his/her opinion the task exceeds the teacher's training or experience. The District shall comply with all Educational Code and Title V provisions so that the teacher may provide specialized health care in a safe, appropriate environment. The District shall indemnify and hold harmless from liability any teacher who performs specialized health care services. Teachers shall not be required to perform specialized health care services without the expressed authorization from the District, except in an emergency. The District shall provide liability insurance for teachers. Such insurance shall cover the rendering of or failure to render specialized health care services, medical treatment, or the furnishing or dispensing of drugs or medication.
