Extended Health Care Benefits. A-7.01 Subject to the rules and regulations of the Plan, the Co-operative will provide eligible employees with an Extended Health Care Plan. Extended Health Care Benefits. (i) For those Members who retire on or after January 1, 2006 consistent with the terms of OMERS and have completed at least ten (10) years of unbroken service as a Continuing Full-time member with the Halton Regional Police Service will be provided with extended health care benefits in effect on the date of their retirement. The annual deduction of $26.00 shall also be applicable to retired members and shall be deducted from their first claim each year. Benefits for dental, vision and deluxe travel insurance are clarified in Article 16.09 (b) below. This coverage shall commence on the first day of the month following the member’s retirement and shall continue to the end of the month in which the member reaches age 65 or for a period of fifteen (15) years, whichever occurs first. Eligible Expenses (Benefit year January 1 – December 31) ⮚ Semi-private hospitalization – difference between xxxx and semi-private hospital room ⮚ Drugs (drug card, including current generic prescription features, for use in Canada), which are prescrib ed by a medical doctor or dentist and dispensed by a licensed pharmacist, which: • Require a prescription, have a Drug Identification Number and are listed in Federal or Provincial Drug Schedules • Maximum of three hundred dollars ($300) per person per benefit year for smoking cessation medication • Plus other non-prescription but life sustaining drugs if they have a Drug Identification Number ⮚ Private duty nursing at home when medically necessary, to a maximum of five thousand dollars ($5,000) per benefit year.
