Section 1 – Holidays. The following days shall be observed as paid holidays: New Year's Day Veteran's Day Memorial Day Thanksgiving Day Independence Day Christmas Day Labor Day A holiday falling on Saturday shall be observed on the preceding Friday; a holiday falling on Sunday shall be observed on the following Monday. The following holidays will be granted, but the University shall schedule observance of these holidays on the dates which it determines serve the best interests of the University: Columbus Day Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day Presidents Day Employee’s whose schedule bridges both a calendar day that is a holiday and a calendar day that is not a holiday will be granted their paid time off based on which day their shift starts. For example, the calendar holiday “Memorial Day” falls on Monday, May 27, 2019. For an employee whose regular shift is Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., the ‘holiday’ that they would be granted paid time off for would be from 11:00 p.m. Monday, May 27th until 7:30 a.m. Tuesday May 28th.

Section 1 – Holidays. Bargaining Unit members will receive 12 1/2 paid holidays. Christmas, New Year's, Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving shall be observed on their traditional days, and the remainder will be determined by the College calendar. This section shall not apply to employees whose work schedule is governed by the Academic calendar nor employees whose appointment does not normally require attendance during a period of holiday observance. If a designated holiday falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, and is not observed on an alternative day, the employees will receive a floating holiday in its place.

Thereafter, floating holidays shall be accrued in accordance 31 with the schedule above. Newly hired and/or probationary employees shall 32 not be eligible to utilize floating holiday hours until after the successful 1 completion of the six (6) month benefit waiting period. Floating holidays may 2 not be carried forward from one (1) fiscal year to the next fiscal year. 4 Whenever a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be 5 observed as the holiday and, if it falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday 6 shall be observed. If the Nurse is on an authorized vacation, sick leave, or 7 any other leave with pay when a holiday occurs, such holiday shall not be 8 charged against such leave.
