Major Holidays are defined as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
If a holiday falls on a day on which an employee is scheduled to work on a holiday, that employee will be paid at time and one-half for Minor Holidays and double time for Major Holidays.
Unless permitted by the operational requirements of the Medical Center where there are competing requests for Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, or Thanksgiving, a nurse shall not take more than one (1) of the three (3) Major Holidays in any one (1) scheduling year; nor, if there are competing requests, shall a nurse take the same Major Holiday more than once every three (3) years.
Major Holidays and Sundays When employees (including Department Managers and part-time employees) are requested by the Employer to work on a Sunday or any holiday as outlined in Article VII, Part A, entitled "Holidays", they shall receive double their regular hourly rate for hours worked but such hours worked shall not be counted as hours worked toward figuring weekly overtime.
Supervisors will post schedules for Major Holidays by September 1st for the following year.
