Seasonal Employees. Seasonal employees still on trial service should refer to Article 71, Sections 2 and 3 regarding salary increases.
Seasonal Employees. A seasonal employee is one that works a certain regular season or period of the year performing some work or activity limited to that season or period of the year not to exceed fourteen (14) consecutive weeks, except that Golf Course Workers and Lifeguards may work beyond 14 weeks. The Employer agrees not to abuse the designation of seasonal status.

Seasonal Employees. Permanent seasonal employees shall be permitted to carry over six (6) annual or bonus leave days to succeeding seasonal work periods with the same agency in lieu of payment at the end of the season for those days. The maximum balance of carried days for any seasonal employee shall be ten (10) days.

The Commissioner of Human Resources shall, with the concurrence of the VSEA, determine those classes and/or positions which shall not be eligible for “higher assignment pay.” In the event the parties cannot agree on an exclusion within three (3) workdays of the Commissioner’s request for concurrence, the Commissioner shall temporarily exclude the class or position from eligibility in order not to delay administrative processing of necessary personnel actions. The VSEA may appeal the Commissioner’s temporary decision to an impartial third party jointly selected by the State and the VSEA. The decision of the third party shall be binding on the State and the VSEA. Cost involved in the appeal shall be borne by the losing party.
