Temporary Assignments. When an employee is assigned temporarily by his/her appointing authority to a job for which he/she is qualified in a higher pay grade for a period of five (5) days or his/her regular workweek, whichever is less, the employee shall be paid retroactively from the initial date of the temporary transfer for the duration of the temporary assignment. The employee shall be paid as if he/she had been promoted during such assignment. In no event may an employee acquire any status in a higher classification as a result of his/her temporary assignment. Acting capacity assignments shall not be made on an arbitrary or capricious basis. Employees shall not be rotated in acting capacity in an arbitrary or capricious manner in order to avoid payment of acting capacity pay. This Article shall not be used in lieu of the proper processing of any request for reclassification or reallocation of a position pursuant to the Personnel Rules and the Reclassifications Article, or the filling of a vacancy pursuant to the Personnel Rules and the Seniority Article.
Temporary Assignments. When a Casual Employee is assigned by their Employer to replace another Employee in a higher paid classification within this Collective Agreement for a full or partial shift or longer, she shall be paid the basic rate of pay for the classification in which the Employee is relieving, providing she is qualified to perform the substantive duties of the higher paid classification. When an Employee is required temporarily to perform the duties of a lower paid classification, her basic rate of pay will not be changed.
Temporary Assignments. There may be instances when employees are temporarily removed from their normal duties to perform work outside of The Society's bargaining unit. Likewise, employees from outside of the bargaining unit may be assigned temporarily to work within The Society's bargaining unit. In such instances, the parties agree that:
Temporary Assignments. Temporary assignments to a lower paid position will not result in a decrease in rate of pay. Temporary assignments to a higher classification, other than for training, of a week or more shall result in payment at the rate of the scale for the higher classification at the step which is equivalent to the employee’s step in their regular assignment for all time worked in the classification.
Temporary Assignments. 13.01 The Parties recognize the benefits of a well-trained workforce and acknowledge the organizational and individual benefits to be obtained through Temporary Assignments. An officer shall receive the premium pay under Section 25.7 and the geographic assignment pay under Section 25.13 to which the officer is entitled by their permanent assignment, even when that officer is on temporary assignment in a different position or geographic location, including administrative reassignment.

Temporary Assignments. 8.1.1 Where an employee is assigned temporarily to perform the duties of a position in a classification with a higher salary maximum for a period in excess of five (5) consecutive working days, he or she shall be paid acting pay from the day he or she commenced to perform the duties of the higher classification in accordance with the next higher rate in the higher classification, provided that where such a change results in an increase of less than three percent (3%), he or she shall receive the next higher salary rate again.
