PRIORITY POOL. 12.03.1 (i) Priority in the allocation of available teaching assistantships shall be given to full-time Ph.D. students who, at the time of hiring, have held one teaching assistantship or portion thereof, whether as a Masters student or as a Ph.D. student, but not more than five full teaching assistantships as a Ph.D. student. Priority shall be granted for no more than one full teaching assistantship in a twelve-month period; possible exceptions are noted below. Teaching assistantship appointments shall be counted as part of an individual’s Priority Pool entitlement in proportion to a full teaching assistantship as defined in Article 10.02.1, to a maximum of one full teaching assistantship in any academic year. NOTE: Priority per (i) entitles a qualified full-time Ph.D. student to a maximum of one full teaching assistantship (subject to availability) in each of up to six years while a full-time Ph.D. student, provided that the student is successful in obtaining an initial teaching assistantship. Any teaching assistantship(s) held while a Masters student will not reduce the priority while a Ph.D. student. Such priority is subject to (ii) and (iii) below.

PRIORITY POOL. An Employee registered in a graduate degree program at the University, who has held at least one (1) Teaching Assistantship or portion thereof in a Hiring Unit is a member of that Hiring Unit's priority pool.
PRIORITY POOL. The Priority Pool provides a limited guarantee of TAships once you have received your first position as a TA. It used to be standard procedure in the Faculty of Arts that you received two or three years of TA positions but this is no longer the case. We have improved and extended this Priority Pool to all faculties for three years as a PhD student (PhD 1 to 4) and two years for Masters students (MA/MSc/MEng 1 to 2), (Art. 13.01.02). While you are a member of the Priority Pool, you have priority in being appointed as a TA over people who are not in the Priority Pool. All TA applicants are divided into three categories (Art. 13.02.1):

New applicants who have never previously worked as an Invigilator at XxXxxx University. ⮚ Category 2. Returning applicants from other Hiring Units. ⮚ Category 3. Returning applicants who have previously invigilated in the Hiring Unit. ⮚ Category 4. Returning applicants who have passed their probationary period in the Hiring Unit. Hiring priority shall be given by Hiring Unit; Category 4 applicants have the highest hiring priority, followed by Category 3, and finally Category 2. Only after these categories are exhausted may new applicants (Category 1) be appointed. In selecting new applicants, preference may be given to McGill students. If not all Category 4 applicants can be offered a job, priority shall be given based on number of shifts previously invigilated in that Hiring Unit during the last examination period from most to least.

Employees will not remain in the Priority Pool beyond the following deadlines: Master's Degree Candidates: Two (2) years from initial registration in the degree program. Doctoral Degree Candidates: Four (4) years from initial registration in the degree program, however if admitted at the level in no case shall the total Priority Pool entitlement exceed five (5) years including years spent in the Priority Pool as a Master degree candidate. An employee, who has an authorized leave of absence from her studies for parenting or maternity reasons in conformity to Article may request the extension of her priority pool entitlement for a period not to exceed two (2) years. Also, an employee who has an authorized leave of absence for medical reasons may request the extension of her priority pool entitlement for a period not to exceed one year. The employee must make her request for such an extension in writing to her Hiring Unit and, in the case of leave for medical reasons, accompany the request with a medical certificate. The University will not refuse such an extension without valid grounds. The employer may grant upon request up to one (1) year deferment of an employee's priority pool entitlement in order for the employee to conduct research. Priority shall be granted for no more than one (1)appointment in each term. A teaching assistant ceases to be an employee of the University and is automatically removed from the priority pool when she: resigns; is terminated, unless she is reinstated; no longer is a graduate student. Notwithstanding above, an employee who does not apply for a term, refuses an offered appointment or resigns prior to the beginning of term does not waive her priority pool entitlement for subsequent terms within the time frame specified in Appointment Appointments are offered to the following three (3) categories of applicants:

  • PRIORITY OF USE Any schedule or milestone in this Agreement is estimated based upon the Parties' current understanding of the projected availability of NASA goods, services, facilities, or equipment. In the event that NASA's projected availability changes, Partner shall be given reasonable notice of that change, so that the schedule and milestones may be adjusted accordingly. The Parties agree that NASA's use of the goods, services, facilities, or equipment shall have priority over the use planned in this Agreement. The pro rata allocations for each Selling Holder who has requested participation in such Underwritten Offering shall be the product of (a) the aggregate number of Registrable Securities proposed to be sold in such Underwritten Offering multiplied by (b) the fraction derived by dividing (x) the number of Registrable Securities owned on the Closing Date by such Selling Holder by (y) the aggregate number of Registrable Securities owned on the Closing Date by all Selling Holders plus the aggregate number of Parity Securities owned on the Closing Date by all holders of Parity Securities that are participating in the Underwritten Offering.
