A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is required, and applications will be distributed to all Junior and Senior students that meet this scholarship criterion at the beginning of the school year. Applications will be used to evaluate leadership (roles in both the school and community), service (contributions candidate has made to school, classmates, and community; student’s attitude toward service), and character (exemplifies desirable qualities of behavior and upholds principles of morality and ethics). Sophomores are eligible for membership at the beginning of second semester and will be selected in the same manner. Membership in the National Xxxxx Xxxxxxx is both an honor and a responsibility. Students selected for membership are expected to continue to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, and character by which they were selected. NATIONAL XXXXX XXXXXXX. Contract Membership in the National Xxxxx Xxxxxxx is both an honor and a responsibility. You have been selected for membership because you have demonstrated the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. As a member, you are expected to continue demonstrating and strengthening these qualities through your participation in service projects and activities, and your adherence to chapter regulations. The following is a list of your rights as a National Xxxxx Xxxxxxx member and chapter requirements that must be fulfilled in order to remain a member. These are minimum requirements.

NATIONAL XXXXX XXXXXXX. The National Xxxxx Xxxxxxx seeks to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. Because instances of cheating and/or plagiarism impact the characteristics of character and scholarship, any student reported by a teacher to have been involved in such activities will be ineligible for membership, regardless of his/her grade point average, for the academic year in which he/she was reported. Likewise, because instances of bullying or harassment, including cyber bullying, impact the characteristics of character and leadership, any pupil reported, by an administrator or a teacher, to have engaged in these activities will also be ineligible for membership, regardless of his/her grade point average, for the academic year in which he/she was reported.

Senior and junior members must have an average of 90% by the end of the third quarter in order to receive their cords or pins at the awards ceremony. College admissions officers often regard National Xxxxx Xxxxxxx membership as a valid indicator that the applicant will succeed at the post- secondary education level. The National Xxxxx Xxxxxxx member has already exhibited academic achievement, leadership, either overtly or silently, honorable and admirable character, as well as service that demonstrates that the member is willing to use talents and skills for the improvement of society. BETA CLUB To be eligible for Beta Club, a student must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior who has maintained a 3.0 G.P.A in their major subjects as well as possess good leadership, character traits, be enrolled in the Weathersfield Local School system for a minimum of (1) year and must have an average of three (3) in conduct the preceding semester. A member who falls below a (B) average will be put on probation for (1) nine week grade period. If the average is not brought up, the student loses the privilege of membership until the standards are met. A member must also maintain a (3) average in conduct. NATIONAL XXXXX XXXXXXX. Membership in the National Xxxxx Xxxxxxx is an honor bestowed upon a student by the NHS Committee on behalf of the school faculty and administration. Selection for membership is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Leadership is based on the student’s participation in school and community activities. To meet the service requirement, students must be active in service projects in the school and in the community. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics, and cooperation with both students and faculty. Once selected, a member has the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities. If a student is in violation of any rules, the NHS Committee will initiate the process established by the Society regarding these violations.
