Maternity Leave/Parental Leave/Adoption Leave. (Effective for maternity and/or parental leaves that commenced before May 1, 2019)
Maternity Leave/Parental Leave/Adoption Leave. 24.01 A Pregnant Employee who has completed one (1) year of continuous service before commencing leave, shall be granted up to fifty-two (52) weeks leave without pay. The fifty-two (52) weeks is comprised of seventeen (17) weeks maternity leave and thirty-five (35) weeks parental leave. A pregnant Employee should apply for maternity leave as soon as possible prior to her expected date of delivery, but in any case shall give the Department Head or Supervisor at least six (6) weeks notice in writing of the date on which she intends to commence maternity leave or parental leave. Notice prior to parental leave is not required after maternity leave unless it was originally agreed to only take seventeen (17) weeks of maternity leave.

Maternity Leave/Parental Leave/Adoption Leave. 11.1.1 Entitlement to Maternity Leave A teacher who is an employee of the Employer is entitled to maternity leave without pay.

Maternity Leave/Parental Leave/Adoption Leave a) Leave of absence without pay in the case of pregnancy shall be granted in accordance with the Employment Standards Act. Such leave will not affect sick leave entitlement, seniority, vacation entitlement, or vacation pay.
Maternity Leave/Parental Leave/Adoption Leave. (i) Written Notice of at least six (6) weeks is required before commencing these job-protected unpaid leaves, and at least four (4) weeks either to return to work or not to return to work.
Maternity Leave/Parental Leave/Adoption Leave. 22.01 An Employee who qualifies for leave shall be granted such leave in accordance with Part III of the Canada Labour Code and any subsequent amendments.
