Intent of Contract Documents. 1.1 It is the intent of the Contract Documents to describe a functionally complete Project (or portion thereof) to be constructed in accordance with the Contract Documents. Any work, materials or equipment that may reasonably be inferred from the Contract Documents as being required to produce the intended result shall be supplied whether or not specifically called for. When words which have a well-known technical or trade meaning are used to describe work, materials or equipment, such words shall be interpreted in accordance with that meaning. Reference to standard specifications, manuals or codes of any technical society, organization or association or to the laws or regulations of any governmental authority having jurisdiction over the Project, whether such reference be specific or by implication, shall mean the latest standard specification, manual, code, law or regulation in effect at the time the Work is performed, except as may be otherwise specifically stated herein.

If the Contract Documents include words or terms that have a generally accepted technical or industry meaning, then such words or terms shall be interpreted to have such standard meaning unless otherwise expressly noted in the Contract Documents. Reference to standard specifications, manuals or codes of any technical society, organization or association or to the laws or regulations of any governmental authority having jurisdiction over the Project, whether such reference be specific or by implication, shall mean the latest standard specification, manual, code, law or regulation in effect at the time the Construction Documents are permitted, except as may be otherwise specifically stated in the Contract Documents; provided, however, in the event the standard specification, manual, code, law or regulation is changed after the GMP Amendment has been executed by the parties, Construction Contractor shall be entitled to a Change Order equitably adjusting the Contract Amount and/or Contract Time to the extent such change materially impacts the Contract Time and/or Contract Amount.
Intent of Contract Documents. The intent of the Contract Documents is to include all items necessary for the proper execution and completion of the Work by the Design/Builder. The Contract Documents are complementary and what is required by one shall be as binding as if required by all; performance by the Design/Builder shall be required only to the extent consistent with the Contract Documents and reasonably inferable from them as being necessary to produce the intended results.

Before proceeding with the Work, Contractor shall obtain a written interpretation or clarification from the Engineer. Contractor shall take field measurements and verify field conditions and shall carefully compare such field measurements and conditions and other information known to Contractor with the Contract Documents before commencing any portion of the Work. Drawings are intended to show general arrangements, design and extent of work and are not intended to serve as shop drawings. Specifications are separated into divisions for convenience of reference only and shall not be interpreted as establishing divisions for the Work, trades, subcontracts, or extent of any part of the Work. In the event of a discrepancy between or among the drawings, specifications or other Contract Document provisions, Contractor shall be required to comply with the provision which is the more restrictive or stringent requirement upon the Contractor, as determined by the Engineer. Unless otherwise specifically mentioned, all anchors, bolts, screws, fittings, fillers, hardware, accessories, trim and other parts required in connection with any portion of the Work to make a complete, serviceable, finished and first quality installation shall be furnished and installed as part of the Work, whether or not called for by the ...
Intent of Contract Documents. Unless otherwise stated, the Specifications and Contract Documents are not limited to materials, equipment, or fixtures produced by any particular manufacturer. Where materials, equipment and/or fixtures have been specified by name, manufacturer or catalog number, it has been done to set a definite standard and a reference for comparison as to quality, application, physical conformity, and other characteristics. Any dealer, jobber or manufacturer may furnish materials, equipment, or fixtures which meet or exceed the characteristics of the specified items. Substitution of materials will not be made without prior written approval from the Architect/Engineer and Owner, in conformance with Subsections 8.3.6 and 8.3.7.

Intent of Contract Documents. The drawings, specifications, provisions and exhibits of the Agreement shall be construed as a whole. They are complementary and that which is required by any of these documents shall be as binding as if required by all. The intent of the drawings and specifications, provisions and exhibits of the Agreement, as a whole, is to require Contractor to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, plant, transportation and other items necessary for the proper execution and completion of the Work, except as otherwise provided herein. The titles and divisions of drawings and specifications by trades or other classifications are for convenience only and any reliance by Contractor on such titles or divisions in determining the scope of Work shall neither relieve Contractor from performing Work nor result in any adjustment of the Agreement price.
