External Hires to Temporary Positions. Temporary positions may be filled with external applicants in the event that no qualified permanent employee has applied for the position. Employees newly hired to fill such temporary vacancy will be covered by the terms of this agreement, however, will not accrue seniority during the filling of such vacancy. If such employee successfully posts into a permanent position within the bargaining unit, prior to the expiration of the term of the vacancy, they will be credited with seniority from their date of hire. The release or discharge of such employee at the completion of the temporary vacancy shall not be the subject of a grievance or arbitration.

All increases shall be rounded to the nearest whole percentage using regular rounding rules.
