Evaluation of Students. A teacher shall maintain the right and responsibility to determine grades and other evaluation of students within the grading policies of the District based upon professional judgment of available criteria pertinent to any given subject area or activity for which the teacher is responsible. No grade or evaluation shall be changed without consultation with the teacher.
Evaluation of Students. The teacher has the right and responsibility to evaluate student performance in accordance with the individual schools' policy. Evaluation systems will be utilized which are non- discriminatory, fair and consistent. If an evaluation or grade is brought into review, an administrator will consult with the teacher who made the evaluation or issued the final grade. If the review results in a change, the administrator will provide written notification to the teacher in a timely manner.

A grade may be changed by Board action. Subject to the student’s right of due process, no grade changes will be made after one year has elapsed from the time the grade was assigned.

If the teacher is non-responsive to the administrator’s attempts to make contact, then the administrator may make changes without prior consultation. Following the administrator’s decision, the teacher may appeal the unit administrator’s decision to change the grade directly to the level director, whose decision will be final. No changes shall be made to the student’s grade issued by the teacher more than 90 days after the end of the school year in which the grade was issued.

The School shall implement the plan for assessment of student performance contained in the Application and shall administer the statewide assessment consistent with the laws and regulations of the state. The School shall certify annually that its students have participated in the statewide assessment program.

In the event a grade or evaluation is changed without the member’s consent, the District's record shall reflect the change and the fact that it was affected without the consent of the member.

No grade or evaluation given by the teacher shall be changed without the approval of the teacher, unless the student, parent(s) or legal guardian(s) file an appeal with the building principal within six (6) months of the issuance of the grade or other evaluation. The principal may change the grade, establish additional requirements or refuse the appeal.
