Eligibility for Health Insurance. To be eligible for health insurance benefits through the School Corporation, a secondary teacher must teach 5 periods or more per school day and an elementary teacher must have at least a 75% contract. All teachers who were under a 75% contract during the 2012-2013 school year and were enrolled on the School Corporation’s health insurance plan will be grandfathered under this contract and will continue to be permitted to remain enrolled on the School Corporation’s health insurance plan provided these teachers continue to meet all other plan requirements.

Eligibility for Health Insurance. Adjunct Not On University Health Plan as of November 14, 2017 To be eligible to participate in either plan, the unit member must: (i) have been employed at the Post Campus for at least two full academic years and have taught twelve (12) credits in both academic years; (ii) pay to the University the full monthly cost of the plan in which the adjunct enrolls; (iii) continues to teach at least twelve (12) credits at the Post Campus, or its programs, during each academic year in which the adjunct participates in a plan; and (iv) comply with all of the requirements of the carrier of the plan. Under all circumstances, to participate in a health plan, the unit member must teach in both the Fall and Spring semesters to be covered by the plan. In the event that the adjunct fails to meet any of the foregoing eligibility criteria, such adjunct shall not participate in or not continue to participate in the Plan. The foregoing is subject to formal agreement by the insurance plan that it will accept adjunct participation based on the conditions set forth above.

Post Campus for at least two full academic years and has taught twelve (12) credits in one academic year and is teaching at least six (6) credits in the semester following such academic year; (2) pays to the University Payroll Department, the full cost of the Plan in which the Adjunct enrolls; (3) normally continues to teach at least twelve (12) credits at the C. W. Post Campus, or its programs, during each academic year in which the Adjunct participates in the Plan and; (4) complies with all of the requirements of the carrier of the Plan. Adjunct faculty hired on or after September 1, 2006 will only be eligible to participate in the Oxford Gold Health Plan.

Employees electing to participate in the plan must complete the applicable insurance forms within thirty (30) days from the date of eligibility. In the event that two employees are married to each other, only one insurance policy may be purchased and the other spouse will not be eligible for a payment in lieu of health insurance pursuant to the terms described in Payment in Lieu of Health Insurance in this section. In the event that two employees of this bargaining unit are otherwise related and eligible to be covered under one policy (e.g. father and daughter are both full-time City employees), the employee adult dependent may choose to enroll in his or her own policy with the City and be eligible for a separate City Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution from the parent’s City HSA contribution. If the employee adult dependent chooses to be insured under the parent’s policy with the City, the employee adult dependent would not be eligible for pay in lieu of health insurance pursuant to the terms described in Payment in Lieu of Health Insurance in this section or a City HSA contribution. Employees who retire from the Employer on or after July 1, 2019 are not eligible to participate in the health plan except through COBRA continuation of benefits.
