Annual Vacation Leave Requests. Each employee may submit a request for annual vacation leave by March 31 of each year. Conflicts between employees who cannot, in accordance with the operations of the Employer, be scheduled off at the same time will be resolved by seniority. Any vacation leave requests after March 31, each year shall be on a first-come, first-served basis. Any request for change of dates for extenuating circumstances must be in writing and must be approved by the Employer. All vacation leaves are subject to the operational needs of the Department. The Employer may cancel and reschedule vacation leave requests due to the operational needs of the Department. Vacation leave shall be charged in minimum units of one (1) hour.

Annual Vacation Leave Requests. Requests for Annual Leave will be submitted, in writing, to the Executive Co-ordinator. A minimum of two (2) weeks notice must be given. The Executive Co-ordinator will consider the employee's preference, the needs of the shelter and the ability to secure replacement coverage for the time requested and shall respond to the employee within seven days of the vacation request being received. In the event that two or more people request the same time period, and such requests cannot all be accommodated, vacation shall be approved on a seniority basis. No employee shall be required to take vacation at a time that is not mutually agreed. An employee shall be entitled to carry over accrued vacation days from one year to the next. The number of days held over shall not exceed ten (10) and will be used within one year of the carry- over date. Where such carry over is not used, it shall be paid out by December 31 of that year to the employee.
