Annual Sick Leave Cash Out. In January following any year in which an employee reaches a minimum accrual of four hundred eighty (480) hours of sick leave, the employee may receive cash at the employee’s straight time rate for any sick leave hours accumulated during the prior calendar year; provided that employees will not be permitted to reduce their sick leave balances below four hundred eighty (480) hours through sick leave cash out. Sick leave will be cashed out at a rate of one (1) hour’s pay for each four (4) hours of sick leave. Hours cashed out will be deducted from the employee’s sick leave balance.

Annual Sick Leave Cash Out. In January of the year following any year in which a minimum of sixty days of leave for illness or injury is accrued, and each January thereafter, any eligible employee may exercise an option to receive remuneration for unused leave for illness or injury accumulated in the previous year at a rate equal to one day's monetary compensation of the employee for each four full days of accrued leave for illness or injury in excess of sixty days. Leave for illness or injury for which compensation has been received shall be deducted from accrued leave for illness or injury at the rate of four days for every one day's monetary compensation: Provided that no employee may receive compensation under this section for any portion of leave for illness or injury accumulated at a rate in excess of one day per month.

The amount of the entitled "cash out" shall be calculated by subtracting the number of sick leave hours used during the preceding twelve (12) months from the annual leave hours accrual amount of one hundred four (104) hours and dividing the balance by two (2) and paying the employee for the quotient at the employee's current base rate of pay, e.g., 104 hours - 4 sick leave used hours – 100 hours/2 = 50 hours x base rate of pay. At no time shall the employee's total accrual fall below three hundred and thirty (330) hours.
