The employee must receive prior approval from the Highway Superintendent for Highway or the Town Supervisor for Maintenance to take a floating holiday. In the event more employees request a floating holiday than minimum coverage permits, preference will be given to the employee with the most service seniority. Floating holidays must be used in whole-day increments. An employee may not accumulate floating holidays. Any floating holidays remaining unused at close of business on the last day of the calendar year will be canceled. However, the three hours for Christmas Eve will be observed only if such day falls on Monday through Friday, inclusive.
