P robationary Employee. An employee who has been hired by the Employer on a full-time or part-time basis and who has been continuously employed by the Employer for less than ninety (90) days. After ninety (90) calendar days of continuous employment, the employee shall attain regular status unless specifically advised by the Employer in writing of an extended probationary period of up to an additional ninety (90) days. During the probationary period, an employee may be terminated with notice and without recourse to the grievance procedure. Probationary employees shall not be required to give fourteen (14) days’ notice of intention to terminate.

After six (6) months of continuous employment, the employee shall attain regular status unless specifically advised by the Employer in writing of an extended probationary period of up to an additional ninety (90) days. During the probationary period, an employee may be terminated without notice and without recourse to the grievance procedure. Probationary employees shall not be required to give fourteen (14) days’ notice of intention to terminate. The Employer may extend the probationary period for an individual employee as long as the extension does not cause the total period to exceed twelve (12) months. Employees will be provided with a written explanation for the extension. If the extension is based on performance issues, the employee will receive a performance improvement plan. Extension of probationary periods shall not be a normal practice.
P robationary Employee. One who is hired to fill a budgeted position but has not completed the probationary period. Probationary employees are not covered by this Agreement.

Such appointments are at the discretion of the Employer/University Administration and are subject to existing law and all rules and regulations of the State Retirement Board. The decision of the Employer/University Administration not to approve a proposal for a post-retirement appointment shall not be grievable under the Grievance and Arbitration Procedure, Article 7.

  • Contract Employee Check this option when the Department requires a renewal or other amendment to the performance of a Contract Employee.

  • School Year Employment If an employee is employed on the basis of a school year and such employment contemplates absences from the State payroll during the summer months or vacation periods scheduled by the Appointing Authority which occur during the regular school year, the employee shall nonetheless remain eligible for an Employer Contribution, provided that the employee appears on the regular payroll for at least one (1) working day in the payroll period immediately preceding such absences.

  • Probation for Newly Hired Employees (a) The Employer may reject a probationary employee for just cause. A rejection during probation shall not be considered a dismissal for the purpose of Article 11.2
