Funeral Attendance Leave. 17.6.1 A death in the immediate family of a unit member shall entitle the unit member to a leave of absence for the purpose of attending the funeral or other event designed to commemorate death (see 17.6.1.3 below).
Funeral Attendance Leave. Leave to attend the funeral of a close friend or a relative, not a member of the immediate family, must be approved in advance by the unit member's immediate supervisor. If the immediate supervisor denies such leave, the unit member may appeal the denial to the Superintendent and/or their designee. Time for the attendance is up to two (2) full days. This leave is independent of sick leave.
Funeral Attendance Leave. 12.3.1 Leave with pay up to five (5) working days per year (total) shall be granted by the City in case of the death of a mother, father, mother- in-law, father-in-law, spouse, sister, brother, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law or domestic partner of the unit member or grandparent or grandchild of the unit member or his/her spouse. This leave shall be utilized to attend the funeral or to make arrangements for the funeral.
Funeral Attendance Leave. A member shall be entitled to take a maximum of five (5) consecutive calendar (not work) days for funeral leave for the death of a Member's immediate family including a Member's spouse, children, parents, parents-in-law, sisters, brothers, step-parents, step- siblings, step-children, half-siblings, grandparent, and xxxxxxxxxx, provided that the Member obtains the prior approval of the Fire Chief. In cases of the foregoing, the Member shall return to work on the Member's regularly scheduled work day immediately following the funeral unless a travel delay necessitates the need for additional time. In no event shall the maximum time for the foregoing funeral leave exceed five (5) consecutive calendar days. In the event of the death of a Member's sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in- law, son-in-law, aunt, uncle, and/or spouse's aunt or uncle, the Member shall, with the prior approval of the Fire Chief, be entitled to one duty day for funeral leave, provided that such day is the actual day of the funeral. Upon request to and with the approval of the Fire Chief, Members may be permitted funeral leave of up to twenty-four (24) consecutive hours of regularly scheduled duty time (if such is the day of the funeral) in cases of the death of other blood relatives of the Member. If the Fire Chief disapproves such request, the affected Member may appeal the decision to the Board for its review and action. The Board's decision shall be final and non-grievable. In addition to the leave provided by this section, and with the approval of the Fire Chief, a Member may use two (2) days of sick leave in the event of the death of a spouse or a child.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.

  • Carer’s Leave An employee may use up to 10 days accrued sick days as carers leave to tend to the care for members of the employee’s immediate household. The leave will be subject to the employee providing reasonable proof of the need for the use of xxxxx’s leave.
