Xxxx Federal Direct Loan Program ). Loans made under the Direct Loan Program are called “Direct Loans.” Direct Loans are made by the Department. We contract with servicers to process Direct Loan payments, deferment and forbearance requests, and other transactions, and to answer questions about Direct Loans. If a TEACH Grant that you received is converted to a Direct Unsubsidized Loan, we will provide you with information about how to contact your servicer. It is important to keep in contact with your servicer.
