Technical Annexes. Annex 2: Development and test of the Piezo-Assisted INFN Blade-Tuners required for the HTS & ILCTA at Fermilab Technical description of the work, deliverables, and related responsibilities This section involves two projects. • The initial project involves the HTS. INFN has pioneered the design of the coaxial tuner, presently part of the ILC baseline design. INFN will provide one complete coaxial tuner assembly for joint testing purposes to be used with the first cavity to be tested at the HTS (November 2006). • The second project involves providing coaxial tuners for the remaining two cryomodules of the ILC RF Unit at ILCTA at Fermilab. For this second project, INFN will provide the first eight tuner assemblies, including the associated helium vessels, four of the present design and four the new “light” design. All these tuner packages will be fabricated in Italy. As required by Fermilab INFN will also provide the construction drawings and the engineering support to purchase the 8 additional light tuners, either from Italian or US industry to complete the second cryomodule of the ILC RF unit at ILCTA. The University of Pennsylvania will coordinate the engineering and purchase of these tuners in US. The 8 tuner assemblies provided by INFN are required by second quarter CY2007. Schedule reviews and milestones These milestones will be used to judge the progress of the activity and the likelihood of achieving the needed delivery and installation dates. INFN and Fermilab will proceed on a best effort basis to meet these milestones. Milestones will be updated as required. • First Complete Tuner delivered to Fermilab Nov 2006 • 8 sets of Blade-Tuner mechanism ready for integration July 2007 The procurement of vacuum vessels and other ancillaries depends on the availability of financial resources. We assume month zero when the money will be available. • Start long term procurements Month 03 • Fabrication of moving mechanisms and He-vessels Month 08 • Delivery to Fermilab for cavity integration Month 10 Technical Annexes Annex 3: The Cathode System for the ILCTA_NM at Fermilab Technical description INFN-Milano has long term experience and expertise in Cs2Te cathode preparation. INFN-Milano provided a Cathode Preparation Chamber for the A0 Photoinjector in the early construction of the injector (ca, 1996). This preparation chamber has been used since then at A0. Subsequently, INFN developed a system for DESY TTF. In that system the Preparation chamber was separated ...
