REASONABLE ADDITIONAL HOURS & OVERTIME. Where necessitated by operational requirements, a supervisor/manager may require an employee from time to time to work additional hours (overtime) outside the ordinary hours, provided that an employee may refuse to work overtime in circumstances where the working of such overtime would result in the employee working hours which are unreasonable having regard to: any risk to the employee‟s health and safety; the employee‟s personal circumstances including any family responsibilities; the operational requirements of the workplace; whether the employee is entitled to receive overtime payments, penalty rates or other compensation for the expectation of working additional hours; any notice given by the employer of the overtime and by the employee of his or her intention to refuse it; whether the additional hours are on a public holiday; the number of hours worked by the employee over the four weeks ending immediately before the request to work the additional hours; the nature of the employee‟s role and the employee‟s level of responsibility; and any other relevant matter.
REASONABLE ADDITIONAL HOURS & OVERTIME. ‌ Employees shall not, except in an emergency, work or be required to work reasonable additional hours (overtime) or shift work at times which would prevent their attendance in training consistent with their Contract of Training. REASONABLE ADDITIONAL HOURS & OVERTIME. For the purposes of this Agreement, reasonable additional hours shall be known as Overtime. All overtime shall be authorised before commencement and such authorisation is to be noted in writing. Employees are expected to work reasonable overtime when requested. Employees failing to work reasonable overtime will be subject to clause 2.5.

In order to manage fatigue, all reasonable efforts need to be made to ensure that an employee should not work longer than 12 hours; if a job cannot cease; arrangements should be made with management to have another technician/s take over the job to finalise. The Technician should contact their manager at least prior to the 11 hour mark to make suitable arrangements for relief staff or to leave the job safe and secure.
