Placing of Concrete Sample Clauses

Placing of Concrete. Deposit concrete in clean, wet forms and as nearly as practicable in its final position to avoid segregation. Place concrete at a rate so concrete is at all times plastic and flows readily into the pace between the bars. Concrete placement shall be continuous operation until the panel or section is completed. Vibrate all structural concrete. Concrete shall be deposited on the subgrade or in the forms from a chute or drip pipe without a free fall. Placing by means of pumping may be allowed, contingent upon the adequacy of the equipment for this particular work. Operation of pumping shall insure a continuous stream of concrete shall be regulated so that the pressure caused by wet concrete shall not exceed that used in the design of the forms. After the concrete has taken its initial set, exercise care to avoid jarring forms or placing any strain on ends of projecting reinforcement.

Placing of Concrete. After mixing, concrete shall be conveyed to the place of final deposit, without delay, and placed into its final position as rapidly as possible by methods which prevent the loss or segregation of materials. Dropping concrete a greater height than one (1) metre, depositing large quantities at any point and moving or working it along the forms will not be permitted. A plastic surface shall be maintained until the completion of the unit. Concrete placing shall be carried on continuously up to the construction points as shown on the drawings, or as directed by the Superintendent. Wherever the work of placing concrete is delayed until the concrete shall have taken its initial set, the point of stopping shall be deemed a construction joint. The location of construction joints shall be planned in advance and shall be made only when approved by the Superintendent. The placing of concrete shall be carried on continuously from joint to joint. These joints shall be perpendicular to the principal lines of stress and in general, shall be located at points of minimum shear. Before placing new concrete on or against concrete which has set, the form shall be re-tightened and the surface of the set concrete shall be roughened as required by the Superintendent, thoroughly cleaned of foreign matter, laitance and loose or porous material, and saturated with water. The surface shall be then covered with a thin coat of stiff, neat cement to ensure bond and concreting shall then proceed immediately. Precautions shall be taken in placing concrete when air temperatures are above 30oC and below 5oC. No concrete is to be placed under water unless methods used are approved by the Superintendent.
Placing of Concrete. (Plain & Reinforced) Grades of Concrete Various grades of concrete shall be as per IS 456 - 2000 (latest) with specified characteristic compressive strength against these grades in accordance with Table 2 in the said IS. In the grade designation, letter ‘M’ refers to the mix and the number to the specified characteristic compressive strength of 15 cm. cube at 28 days expressed in N/mm2. The characteristic strength is defined as the strength of material below which not more than 5 percent of the test results are expected to fall. The mix shall be designed to produce the grade of concrete having the required workability and a characteristic strength not less than appropriate values given in Table 2 of IS 456:2000. The target mean strength of concrete mix should be equal to the characteristic strength plus 1.65 times the standard deviation. Design Mix Concrete All RC work shall be in “Design Mix Concrete” only. The Contractor shall make all the necessary tests from approved authorized laboratories like VJTI, IIT, Xxxxxx Xxxxx College, etc. to determine for each grade of concrete, the proportions of various ingredients by weight to arrive at the desired design mix to the satisfaction of the Engineer-In-Charge. Such mix will be known as the “declared mix”. No deviation from the “declared mix” will be permitted without the approval of the Engineer-In-Charge. Approval by the Engineer-In-Charge to such “declared mix” shall not relieve the Contractor of his responsibility to use in the Works at all times only concrete as specified in the relevant drawings. The Contractor shall be entirely responsible for design of concrete mixes of the specified performance to suit the degree of workability and characteristic strengths required for the various parts of the Works. Concrete shall meet with the strength requirements and minimum cementations material, maximum w/c ratio as indicated in TABLE 5 of IS 456:2000 hereinafter unless specifically stated otherwise. Alternative mixes may be designed by the Contractor for use in both thin and narrow sections and thick sections. Special mixes using finer aggregates may be designed by him for in filling pockets and narrow spaces and for regions of congested reinforcement. Nominal Mix Concrete Nominal mix concrete may be allowed by the Engineer-In-Charge at his discretion. The proportions of materials shall be in accordance with Table 9 of IS 456-2000. The relevant details at a glance are indicated in given below in Table 4. TABLE -...

You can discount lower than your proposed contract coefficient, but not higher. This is one of three pricing questions that are required for consideration for award on this solicitation. Please consider your answer carefully. An explanation of the TIPS scoring of pricing is included in the attachments for your information. The below is an Example of how pricing model works (not intended to influence your proposed coefficient, you should propose a coefficient that you determine is right for your business): To propose the exact pricing as the RS Means Unit Price Book, you would insert a 1.0 and to propose a 5% discount for the RS Means Price Book would be a .95 regular hours coefficient and so on.
