Personal Professional Development Account. Personal Professional Development Accounts are provided to enable faculty members to meet the expectation for reappointment, promotion and/or tenure. Approval for use of these funds is contingent upon the member demonstrating to the Chair how the proposed use supports activities described in the member’s approved Faculty Professional Activity Plan. Examples of possible uses for these funds are: professional travel, the purchase of equipment, software, instructional materials, use of consultants, release time for professional development and/or scholarly activity, professional society dues, books, journal subscriptions, and comparable activities that support teaching, course and curriculum development, academic advising, scholarship, services to the university, and service to the community. While these funds shall be held, on behalf of individual faculty members, in a single departmental account, no faculty member shall be constrained in his/her expenditure by the department providing such expenditures are consistent with the purpose of this section. In the event that the appropriateness of a given expenditure is questioned at the departmental level, the matter shall be referred to the xxxx for resolution. Where colleagues agree to do so, monies may be pooled for purposes compatible with the intent of this section. On September 16, 2007, each academic department will be allocated funds to be held in a separate department account that provide $750 per full-time member, including those on sabbatical leave, and pro-rated by FTE for part- time members, as a Personal Professional Development Account (PPDA). On September 16, 2008, each academic department will be allocated funds to be held in a separate department account that provide $750 per full-time professional faculty member with an ongoing appointment and $1250 per full-time professorial faculty member with an ongoing appointment members as a Personal Professional Development Account (PPDA). Faculty holding temporary appointments will not be allocated funds. Faculty members on sabbatical leave are eligible and funds are pro-rated by FTE for ongoing part-time faculty. Durable goods purchased with these funds shall be the property of Southern Oregon University. Each PPDA recipient shall write a report detailing the expenditures from this account and attach it to their Professional Activities Report. The monies in this account may be carried over for one year past the year in which they are appropriated.

  • Professional Development Funds 23.1.1 Two Professional Development Funds, a Professional Development Support Fund and an Education Leave Fund, shall be established to support professional development activities as defined in 23.2.   • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members.

  • Continuing Professional Development The Official Agency shall provide appropriate training for staff performing official controls, enabling them to undertake their duties competently and to carry out official controls in a consistent manner, as per legislative requirements. The Official Agency shall identify training needs for staff performing official controls and ensure that staff carrying out official controls are kept up to date in their area of competence and develop specialised expertise, in partnership with the Authority and other Local Authorities. While the provision of training is the primary responsibility of the Official Agency, the Authority may provide training interventions where the Official Agency has highlighted areas where training is required. The Authority will endeavour to facilitate networking and collaboration with other Official Agencies to assist in improving knowledge in such areas. The Authority will provide e-learning resources and training for official control staff so as to promote a consistent understanding and application of new legislation, guidance or procedures, as appropriate. The Official Agency shall support participants in using e-learning resources, disseminating knowledge or skills acquired and encourage the application of learning gained through the Authority’s training in official control activities. The Official Agency shall ensure that contractors used in the performance of the Service Contract provide evidence of Continuous Professional Development and Compliance with this section. Where staff from the Official Agency need to travel outside the Official Agency functional area to attend training courses/meetings, this shall be facilitated by the Official Agency. The Official Agency in partnership with the Authority shall develop and implement training programmes for all staff engaged in the performance of the Service Contract. Where staff have participated in Better Training for Safer Food (BTSF) the training content shall be disseminated to relevant staff/contractors in the Official Agency and other local authorities in partnership with the Authority.

  • Professional Development Activities Professional development activities are activities initiated by individual faculty members or groups of faculty members and may include attendance at conferences, workshops or seminars which facilitate the following:

  • Professional Development Day The Employees shall be entitled to spend three (3) working days with pay for the purpose of doing research and preparation related to their work at a date mutually acceptable to the Employer and the Employee.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.
