Possible Uses. The principal aim of this project is the storage, documentation, dissemination and therefore the preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) artifacts, such as folk dances which rely on the motion of the performer‘s body. Folk dances are a very important part of ICH because they are connected to local culture and identity and there is always a risk that elements of them could disappear if they are not safeguarded, disseminated and transferred from one generation to the next. Hence, the preservation of folk dances is a basic requirement because the public will be able to easily access the history and style of each folk dance through a system which is going to include all the descriptive information, videos, movement, 3d modeled data etc. relevant to it. The project‘s mission is to augment, enhance, avail and preserve the materials that document the human dance movements, the artistic accomplishments and the effects of historical facts in dance of the past, present and future.
