Mode of Transportation. (1) Official travel shall be accomplished by the method of transportation that is considered most advantageous to the Government when costs and other factors are considered and is authorized on the travel authorization.

Mode of Transportation. Team travel greater than two hundred and fifty (250) miles shall be by air on regular commercial carriers, when reasonably practical. The determination of whether a trip exceeds 250 miles shall be measured by the distance between airports of the two cities. When traveling by air on commercial flights, Teams shall use reasonable efforts to fly without connecting flights, and shall make reasonable efforts to ensure that all Player seats on such flights are aisle or window seats. Airline mileage points/awards shall be available to Players for their travel on commercial airlines. There shall be no obligation by MLS and/or a Team to provide chartered air transportation. MLS shall continue its policy of allowing Teams to provide chartered air transportation for four legs of flights per year, and nothing in the CBA shall prohibit MLS, in its sole and absolute discretion, from providing additional chartered air flights. To facilitate international travel including between the United States and Canada, MLS and/or its Teams shall pay for Global Entry and Nexus travel privileges, and their Canadian equivalent if any, for Players.

In the event that total travel time is less by ground transportation than air travel (e.g., due to connections or layovers), such Team travel may exceed six (6) hours or four hundred (400) miles by ground transportation with the agreement of a PWHLPA representative. For international travel (which shall not include travel between the United States and Canada), Players shall travel in business class. Where travel is by bus, Players shall not be required to carry equipment in the seating areas.

Mode of Transportation. Employees will use the method of transportation administratively authorized on travel orders as most advantageous to the Government. Any additional cost or time resulting from use of a method of transportation will be the employee's responsibility. Travel by privately owned conveyance may be authorized when employees are engaged on official business. Travel by privately owned vehicles will not be directed but may be authorized at the Employer’s discretion. When an employee uses a privately owned conveyance as a matter of personal preference while traveling, reimbursement will be in accordance with applicable regulations and Joint Travel Regulations. Compensatory time gained will not exceed that of which is granted to employee’s traveling by government conveyance.
