Land and Water Sample Clauses

Land and Water work package The Project Board considered a Land and Water work package put to the meeting for approval. This covered engagement in a range of marine study areas including sea protection, coastal processes, hydrological impacts within the Sizewell estate and flood risks. It was noted that the Suffolk Councils would need to engage consultants to support them in some of these areas and an estimate of likely costs was contained within the work package. The need to avoid a conflict of interest between any consultants working for EDFE was noted. The Project Board indicated that it was content to approve the workpackage up to the estimated expenditure limit of £49,106 and EDFE confirmed its agreement to meet the arising expenditure.

Land and Water. On- ground Action This program aims to establish an integrated Fitzroy Basin Land and Water Quality Incentive Scheme, delivered through priority neighbourhood catchments property plans to increase the area of the region under sustainable farming practices. A significant average reduction per year of up to 400,000 tonnes in sediments and nutrients entering the Great Barrier Reef lagoon through uptake of sustainable farm practices involving adoption of grazing and farming systems by:  Protection of 2500 ha stream banks and 200ha from excess cattle grazing through 100 km riparian fencing and off-stream watering.  Improved groundcover by managing grazing pressure to land capacity through exclusion fencing and watering systems.  5000 ha cropping systems adapted to reduce sediment, nutrient and chemical lost to waterways. On ground actions across all programs will increase the system’s resilience to climate change impacts. $700,000 Activity Name Activity Description Expected Outcomes Total funding approved ($) *Payment 1 +Payment 2 #Payment 3 Coastal Program On-ground Action This program will develop on ground actions to improve water quality entering the Great Barrier Reef lagoon and other critical aquatic habitats and will maintain or improve condition of fragile coastal ecosystems. Protection of fragile coastal environments and threatened marine species through:  Installation of gross pollutant traps.  Fencing off of 250 ha estuarine foreshore such as mangroves and salt marshes from cattle grazing.  Increasing barramundi and other aquatic species populations by installation of fish passage devices and/or removal of floodplain levies/dams.  Increasing success of breeding of the Yellow Xxxxx Capricorn sub-population by fencing to exclude cattle from breeding wetlands and wider scale pest control during the breeding season. $200,000 Land and Water Technical Support This program will assess the condition and trend of natural assets, in particular ground cover and water quality. It will develop best practices to use natural resources in the cropping and grazing production systems sustainably and integrate data and information into models of neighbourhood catchments priority setting and extension. Delivery of on-going technical support for the uptake of the Sustainable Farm Practice program across the entire Fitzroy Basin through the completion of the Grains Best Management Practice with potential to influence practice on 1,000,000 ha of cropping lands in th...
