Apprenticeship Duration. The Program is to be designed to take on people with or without any apprenticeship backgroundand bringthem through the necessary training to completion of a journeyman's ticket. The apprenticewould be given two opportunitiesto successfullycompleteany one "school"session. Unsuccessfulcompletionwould result in beingdropped from the program. Employees dropped from the program, after the initial six months, for this reason shall exercise their seniority rights through the job posting procedure. During the first six months of an approved apprenticeship program the employee may choose to opt out of the program and return to their former position, or the Board may return the employee to their former position if the appointment is unsuccessful. In order to accommodate this right, the posting of the former position shall state that the incumbent has the right to return to the position for six (6) months. The employeedisplaced by the return to work shall obtain a position in accordance with the bumping procedureas defined inArticle The bumping procedureinitiatedby the displacedemployee shall not displace the returningemployee from position. After this six month period the employee must complete the apprenticeship program resignation or dropping out of the program(unlessthrough illness or mutual agreement of the Board and the Union) shall constitute resignationfrom employment with the Board. If such a program is deemed feasible, the local parties will determine the terms and conditions of such program(s). The joint local committee will seek the availability of any federal or provincial funds to cover the costs of such programs.

  • APPRENTICES 6.36.1 The Contractor acknowledges and agrees that, if this Contract involves a dollar amount greater than or a number of working days greater than that specified in Labor Code Section 1777.5, this Contract is governed by the provisions of Labor Code Section 1777.5.
