Student Teaching Leave. Subject to Board approval, a paraprofessional may be granted an unpaid leave of absence for a period of one (1) school year for the purpose of student teaching. Request for such leave shall be made in writing to the Superintendent or designee at least sixty (60) calendar days prior to the start of the leave. The paraprofessional shall give notice of intention to return from such leave at least sixty (60) calendar days prior to the end of the leave. Nothing herein shall preclude the further conditioning of such leave as the Board and the paraprofessional shall agree.

Student Teaching Leave. Head Start teachers shall be eligible for an unpaid leave of absence to pursue, under university supervision, a student teaching program so as to acquire teaching certification. Requests for approval shall be submitted to the Office of Human Resources/Labor Relations prior to June 1st for leaves to be granted during the term of the subsequent school year. Leaves may be granted for less than one year upon approval of the Board. Leaves of absence for acquiring teaching certification, upon timely application, shall be approved by the Board, provided the instructional offerings of the Head Start program are not seriously impaired by the teacher's absence.
Student Teaching Leave. A student teaching leave is defined as a leave for the purpose of student teaching pursuant to obtaining a teaching certificate. An employee shall be eligible for such leave after three (3) years of continuous service on a full-time basis with District 86. Such a leave shall be permitted without compensation for a maximum of one semester under the following conditions: If a student teaching leave is desired, the employee shall submit a written request and arrange for a meeting with the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations at least 90 calendar days prior to the anticipated leave. The purpose of this meeting shall be to work out the period of such leave subject to the provisions of this section. Written notification of an employee's intent to return shall be given to the Superintendent of Schools, or his/her designee, at least sixty (60) calendar days prior to the date his/her leave expires. Upon returning from a student teaching leave, an employee shall be placed in the position he/she held at the time the leave commenced, if such position still exists. In the event the position has been eliminated, the employee shall be placed in a position for which he/she is qualified, subject to the provisions of seniority under Reduction in Force (7.3). All insurances may be kept in effect during the leave by the employee making the premium payments.

  • Education Leave (a) If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications.

  • Training Leave An employee appointed or elected as an accredited representative of the union shall, upon application in writing to the employer, be granted up to 5 days leave with pay each calendar year (non-cumulative) to attend appropriate courses: • Such courses shall be designed and structured with the objective of promoting good industrial relations within the building and construction industry. • Consultation may take place between the parties in the furtherance of this objective Accredited representative of the union shall mean a job xxxxxxx recognised by the employer. No. of days per year Up to l5 1 5 31-50 3 15 51-100 4 20 101 and over 5 25 The application for leave shall be given to the employer at least 6 weeks in advance of the commencement of the course. The application shall contain the following details: • The name of the employee seeking leave • The period of time for which the leave is sought (including dates and daily commencing and finishing times) and • The title, general description and structure of the course to be attended and the location of where the course is to be conducted. The employer shall advise the union within seven clear working days (Monday to Friday) of receiving the application as to whether or not the application for leave has been approved. The time of taking leave shall be arranged so as to minimise any adverse effect on the employer’s operations. The onus shall rest with the employer to demonstrate an inability to grant leave when an eligible employee is otherwise entitled. An employer shall not be liable for any additional expenses associated with an employee’s attendance at a course, other than the payment of ordinary time earnings for such absence. For the purposes of this clause ordinary time earnings shall be defined as the relevant award classification rate, shift work loadings plus over-award payments. Leave rights granted in accordance with this clause will not result in additional payment for alternative time off to the extent that the course coincides with an employee’s day off in the 19 day month work cycle. An employee on request by their employer shall provide proof of their attendance at any course within 7 days. If an employee fails to provide such proof the employer may deduct any amount already paid for attendance from the week’s pay or any monies due to the employee. Where an employee is sick during a period when leave under this provision has been granted proof of attendance at the course is not required for that period and the employee shall receive payment in accordance with personal leave provisions. Leave of absence granted in accordance with this clause shall count for all purposes of employment.

  • Unpaid Educational Leave After one (1) year of continuous employment, permission shall be granted for leave of absence for a maximum of one (1) year without pay for study, without loss of accrued benefits.

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent Teacher or long-term Occasional Teacher under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended.

  • Career Development Leave (a) Career development refers to an activity which, in the opinion of the Employer, is likely to be of assistance to the individual in furthering his or her career development and to the organization in achieving its goals. The following activities shall be deemed to be part of career development:

  • Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund, one (1¢) cent per hour per employee for all compensated hours for the purpose of providing paid education leave. Such leave will be for upgrading the employee skills in all aspects of trade union functions. Such monies to be paid on a quarterly basis into a trust fund established by the National Union, CAW, effective from date of ratification and sent by the Company to the following address: CAW Paid Education Leave Program, 000 Xxxxxx Xxxxx, Xxxxx Xxxx, Xxxxxxx X0X 0X0.

  • Cyclic Employment Leave Leave without pay will be granted to cyclic year employees during their off season.

  • Religious Leave Religious leave shall be without pay unless the employee elects to use accumulated compensatory time off, vacation time, or floating holiday time. Denial of religious leave is appealable as provided elsewhere in this section.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.
