SATURDAY DETENTIONS. Saturday detention will be supervised by a certified teacher, if available, who is a member of the Federation; otherwise, the Administration reserves the right to offer the assignment to other District employees. In all cases, the Board will deduct from this amount for each teacher a sum equal to the percentage required by the State of Illinois Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) to be applied for the retirement account of such teacher. Each teacher will also have deducted from the above figures the State of Illinois rate for Teacher’s Health Insurance Security fund (THIS) contribution. Travel between Buildings: Teachers who are assigned regular school day assignments (excluding co-curricular assignments) at two (2) or more schools on the same day shall be reimbursed for travel between such schools with a seventy-five dollar ($75.00) travel stipend to be paid in the month of June.
SATURDAY DETENTIONS. Saturday Detentions will be scheduled on as as-needed basis. The time of service will be 8:00 to 10:00 am. A fee of $25.00 will be assessed to cover the cost of supervision. PROBATION/SUSPENSION/EXPULSION Serious violation of All Saints Catholic School policy may involve one or more of the following: Probation • A student may be placed on probation for a trial period by the school Principal. After conferences are held with the student’s parents or guardian and relevant school personnel, the Principal sets conditions for release from the probation. The Principal’s decisions are final. • Any student may be put on probation for failure to comply with the rules of All Saints Catholic School or for failure to do their assigned work. • Probation is a warning period. During this time, a student may participate in regular activities. If during the probation period there is no improvement, the student will be suspended from classes until he/she comes to school with their parent for a conference with the teacher(s) and principal. • If a student is on probation for an act of violence, then a repeat occurrence during this period will be grounds for suspension/expulsion Suspension • Suspension is justified only in unusual circumstances and is normally an in-school suspension. • Prior to any suspension, the student must be advised of the reason for the proposed suspension. • The parent or guardian of a suspended student is given prompt notice of the suspension and the reasons for the action. • In-school suspension can be directed for varying lengths of time as decided by the Principal but should not exceed five days. In-school suspension conditions are to be determined by the Principal. In-school suspension students remain the responsibility of the school. • Out-of-school suspension is considered a rarity and is the responsibility of the Principal. A maximum of five days can be imposed unless a written notice of an expulsion hearing is scheduled. Such notice shall allow not more than a total of fifteen consecutive school days to be served in suspension until the expulsion hearing is held. • The Principal immediately following a serious disciplinary offense may give out-of-school suspension. Such a suspension is for investigative purposes.
