Vacancies Created by Extended Medical and Parental Leave. Whenever an employee shall request to be on leave thirty (30) workdays or more but less than twelve (12) calendar months the employee's position shall be filled by voluntary reassignment with regular employees and where necessary employment of new employees. Such reassignment or transferring shall be done without posting and as a temporary reassignment. Upon return the employee shall be returned to the same position and temporarily assigned employee shall return to her/his former position and if necessary, the layoff procedure shall be implemented to reduce employees. Employees on extended medical leave or parental leave shall be allowed to accumulate seniority up to three (3) months but shall not accumulate experience credit for salary.

Upon return the employee shall be returned to the same position. Employees on extended medical leave or parental leave shall be allowed to accumulate seniority up to three (3) months but shall not accumulate experience credit for salary.

Leave of absence for Local Coordinators for the Ontario Nurses' Association will be separate from the Union leave provided in (a) above.
