Vacancies and Hiring. Known SAS vacancies for the school year will be posted no later than May 1, for a minimum of five (5) work days. The vacancy may arise due to added positions, resignations, terminations, or the principal's decision not to renew a contract. Should a vacancy occur during a school year, the position may be filled by the building principal on an interim basis and then posted as a vacancy for the upcoming school year. If possible, SAS contracts for the upcoming school year will be signed prior to the end of the current school year. Contracts for new hires will be signed as soon as possible after the beginning of the school term. When it is not possible for SAS contracts to be signed before the end of the current school year, the principal shall provide, prior to the end of the current year, a letter of intent to those SAS sponsors whom the principal intends to retain for the following year. The letter of intent shall include that the retention is expressly contingent upon the continuation of the SAS activity. Absent a letter of intent or a signed contract, nothing herein shall require an SAS sponsor to be retained. The principal shall issue the contract to the applicant best qualified to sponsor the activity. In the event the percentage of SAS contracts held by certified teachers falls below fifty percent (50%) at any one school, the available SAS contracts will subsequently be offered first to qualified certified teachers at that school who volunteer until at least fifty percent (50%) of the contracts are again held by teachers.

  • VACANCIES AND PROMOTIONS Section 1. The following procedures will be followed in the posting and filling of vacant or newly created permanent positions. The purpose of this system is to inform employees of vacancies and newly created positions and to afford employees who are interested and who feel they qualify an equal opportunity to apply for the vacant or newly created position. It is understood that newly hired employees and employees on a leave of absence for any reason may not have the same period of notice as other employees concerning position vacancies.

  • Vacancies Whenever a vacancy in the Board of Trustees shall occur, the remaining Trustees may fill such vacancy by appointing an individual having the qualifications described in this Article by a written instrument signed by a majority of the Trustees then in office or may leave such vacancy unfilled or may reduce the number of Trustees; provided the aggregate number of Trustees after such reduction shall not be less than the minimum number required by Section 2.1 hereof; provided, further, that if the Shareholders of any class or series of Shares are entitled separately to elect one or more Trustees, a majority of the remaining Trustees or the sole remaining Trustee elected by that class or series may fill any vacancy among the number of Trustees elected by that class or series.   • VACANCIES AND TRANSFERS A vacancy shall be defined, for purposes of this Agreement, as a position previously held by a bargaining unit member that needs to be filled, or a newly created PSS position. When all necessary parties agree, vacancies can be filled by organizational advancement or transfer from within the hiring department and shall not require posting. All vacancies will be posted for a minimum of seven (7) working days unless filled by transfer, reassignment, or recall of a laid off staff member. Notice of vacancies will be given to the Alliance President and Chief Alliance Xxxxxxx at the time they are posted on the University's electronic Notices GVSU Business board, and will be simultaneously posted at the University’s electronic employment website. A vacancy will not be filled until after the posting period has expired. Job postings shall include the classification, department, location(s), work schedule and the position description. The search committee will include a PSS member. Typically, vacancies will be posted as an open search available for both internal and external applicants. A job posting limited to internal applicants may occur upon approval. In each instance, all qualified internal applicants will receive an interview. The search committee must present strong justification for not selecting an internal applicant who meets the minimum qualifications of the position. When two applicants are equally qualified for the vacant position, based on current position description and satisfactory work and attendance, the more senior qualified staff member will receive the assignment. At the time of job offer, the University shall notify the selected staff member of any known or impending changes in the position. The Human Resources Office, or their designee, will provide internal applicants not selected for the position with rationale for the decision. Candidates who were interviewed but not selected may contact Human Resources to schedule a meeting with the Search Committee Chairperson, a Human Resource representative, and an Alliance Representative to discuss the reason for non-selection. The Alliance must notify the employer within three (3) working days that the meeting has been the step 1 meeting of the grievance process. If a meeting is requested or a grievance is filed, the position cannot be filled until this process is completed. An internal staff member selected for the position will be required to establish that they can do the job within eight (8) working days. Failure to qualify shall result in returning the selected staff member to their former position and is not subject to the grievance procedure. The staff member shall also have the option to elect to return to their former position within eight (8) working days. When making departmental changes, transfer shall be with the consent of the staff member whenever possible but when there is no reasonable alternative, it may be involuntary. When involuntary transfer is required, the least senior qualified staff member shall be transferred to a similar position (e.g., classification, full or part-time) or be given the option of electing an unpaid leave of absence with eligibility only for the next vacancy in their classification, if qualified. That person shall be disqualified from consideration when the position from which they were transferred is posted. Nothing contained in this Section is intended to prevent the University from making necessary changes in positions, eliminating positions or creating new positions.

  • JOB VACANCIES ‌ A vacancy shall be defined as a newly created position, a present position that is not filled, or any position anticipated to be open in the near future for any reason such as, but not limited to, retirement, resignation, etc., if the Employer intends to fill the position. S-14-2 Job vacancies shall be announced on the Human Resources website (xxx.xxxx.xxxxx.xxx). Notice of the change will be sent electronically to the Association President. The notice of vacancy shall contain the following information: (a) position available, (b) minimum qualifications, (c) compensation range paid for the position -, and (d) location of position. Employees shall indicate their desire for consideration via electronic bid format using PeopleAdmin or such similar application as the University may adopt. PeopleAdmin will generate an electronic confirmation number for each application an employee submits. This confirmation number will serve as evidence the application was submitted. The University will provide the use of computer kiosks and assistance if needed to submit an application. Any assistance required for submitting or amending application materials will be available during normal business hours of the bidding period. The employee is responsible for periodic review and update of his/her application material. S-14-4 The Employer shall determine at the earliest possible time whether a vacant position will be filled. If a position is officially eliminated, the Employer will notify the Association within five (5) working days of the decision. The Association may request a Special Conference to discuss this matter. S-14-5 Once a position has been posted with an established application deadline date, the position will be filled at the earliest possible time. The Employer shall notify the Association of situations where unforeseen circumstances may impede the normal selection process. S-14-6 Employees who have supervised students or temporary employees should so note on their application material so that it may be taken into consideration in the screening process. S-14-7 The Employer shall provide to the Association a log listing the ST employees who applied for each vacancy, and the name of the person hired for the position. S-14-8 It is understood that employees, with their supervisor's permission, may be given release time for the purpose of bidding on positions available at the University. Employees may also be given, with their supervisor's permission, release time to interview for the positions. It is understood that supervisors shall be reasonable in granting such requests. S-14-9 In the event of a job opening where shift work is a factor, all employees in the same classification shall have the right to apply for a transfer to the shift in question with the employee having the most seniority in that classification being granted the transfer upon approval of the appropriate administrator. If the transfer is not granted, reasons for the denial shall be provided to the Association and the employee.

  • Vacancies and Appointment of Trustees In case of the declination to serve, death, resignation, retirement or removal of a Trustee, or a Trustee is otherwise unable to serve, or an increase in the number of Trustees, a vacancy shall occur. Whenever a vacancy in the Board of Trustees shall occur, until such vacancy is filled, the other Trustees shall have all the powers hereunder and the certification of the other Trustees of such vacancy shall be conclusive.
