Union Stewards, Members of Committees and Union Officials a. The Union may appoint or otherwise select up to twenty-four stewards. The name and jurisdiction of each Xxxxxxx shall be given to the person designated by the Employer in writing. No Xxxxxxx shall be discriminated against by the Employer because of the performance of his/her duties as Xxxxxxx. Union Stewards, members of committees or Union Officials shall be given reasonable time during working hours to fulfill their duties and obligations, in accordance with the Collective Agreement, for investigating grievances and attending related meetings with the Employer, investigating health and safety issues, and attending meetings at the request of the Employer. The Xxxxxxx, member of a committee or a Union Official shall not leave his/her assigned duties without first obtaining permission from the appropriate supervisor as designated by the Employer. Permission shall be subject to operational requirements, but will not be unreasonably withheld. The Xxxxxxx, member of the committee or Union Official shall advise the designated Supervisor of the time he/she expects to be absent from work and shall notify that Supervisor if unable to return to work at the expected time. The Xxxxxxx, member of the committee or Union Official xxxx also inform the designated Supervisor when he/she returns to work.

  • Recognition of Union Stewards and Grievance Committee In order to provide an orderly and speedy procedure for the settling of grievances, the Employer acknowledges the rights and duties of the Union Stewards. The Xxxxxxx shall assist any Employee, which the Xxxxxxx represents, in preparing and presenting her grievance in accordance with the grievance procedure.

  • Union Officers and Committee Members Union Officers and Committee Members shall be entitled to leave their work during working hours in order to carry out their functions under this Agreement, including, but not limited to, the investigation and processing of grievances, attendance at meetings with the Employer, participation in negotiations and arbitration. Permission to leave work during working hours for such purposes shall first be obtained from the immediate supervisor. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. All time spent in performing such Union duties, including work performed on various committees, as referred to in this Agreement, shall be considered as time worked.

  • UNION COMMITTEE AND STEWARDS 6.01 No individual employee or group of employees shall undertake to represent the Union at meetings with the Corporation without proper authorization of the Union. In order that this may be carried out, the Corporation will recognize:

  • Sub-Committees 15.1 The Joint Committee shall establish the membership and terms of reference for any sub-committees or sub-groups which it establishes and may dissolve such sub-committees or sub-groups. Sub-committees to which the Joint Committee delegates functions are bound by the provisions of this Agreement regulating the taking of decisions by the Joint Committee. The Joint Committee may create additional sub-committees from time to time as it sees fit.

  • Union Bargaining Committees ‌ A union bargaining committee shall consist of employees who are representatives of the Union together with the President of the Union or designate. The Union shall have the right at any time to have the assistance of members of the staff of the Union when negotiating with the Employer.

  • Union Stewards (a) The Hospital agrees to recognize Union stewards to be elected or appointed from amongst employees in the bargaining unit who have completed their probationary period for the purpose of dealing with Union business as provided under this Collective Agreement.

  • Union Officials 1. The Union will notify the Company in writing of the election, appointment, or removal of Union shop xxxxxxx(s). The District Lodge will notify the Company in writing of the Committee members at that location.
