Serious Health Condition Leave. The Employer may require that such personal medical leave, serious health condition leave, or serious illness or injury leave be supported by certification from the employee’s, covered service member’s or family member’s health care provider for the purposes of qualifying for family medical leave.

Serious Health Condition Leave. If the reason for leave is not common to both Fed-FMLA and CFRA and, therefore, not running concurrently, then an eligible unit member may be entitled to additional leave under applicable law. When the reason for leave is Bonding Leave and both spouses work for the District and are eligible for leave under this Section, the spouses will be limited to a total of twelve (12) work weeks off between the two (2) of them. When the reason for leave is Family Care Leave and if both spouses work for the District and are eligible for leave under this Section, the spouses will be limited to a total of twelve (12) work weeks off between the two of them under Fed-FMLA. The twelve (12)-month period is a fixed twelve (12)-month period from July 1 to June 30 of any year.

  • Serious Health Condition An illness, injury, impairment, or physical or mental condition which warrants the participation of a family member to provide care during a period of treatment or supervision and involves either inpatient care in a hospital, hospice or residential health care facility or continuing treatment or continuing supervision by a health care provider (e.g. physician or surgeon) as defined by state and federal law.

  • Parenthood Leave A. A regular, limited-term or probationary employee shall be granted, upon request, a Parenthood Leave Without Pay of up to six (6) months in connection with the birth or placement for legal adoption of a child provided the employee meets the following conditions:

  • Parental/Adoption Leave (a) A nurse who has been employed for at least thirteen (13) weeks and who is a parent of a child is entitled to parental leave without pay following the birth of the child or the coming of the child into the custody, care and control of a parent for the first time, shall be entitled to thirty-seven (37) weeks (provided the employee did not take pregnancy leave) of parental/adoption leave of absence without pay in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act of Ontario as may be amended from time to time, except as hereunder set out in this article.

  • Maternity Adoption and Parental Leave The following in part reflects the provisions of the Employment Standards Act on these matters. In all cases of dispute, and where the Act as amended from time to time is superior, the provisions of the Act will prevail.

  • Parental and Pregnancy Disability Leave A. Parental leave will be granted to the employee for the purpose of bonding with their newborn, adoptive or xxxxxx child. Parental leave may extend up to six (6) months, including time covered by the family medical leave, during the first year after the child's birth or placement. Leave beyond the period covered by family medical leave and pregnancy disability may only be denied by the Employer due to operational necessity. Such denial may be grieved beginning at the top internal step of the grievance procedure in Article 30.

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent Teacher or long-term Occasional Teacher under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended.
