School Detention. School detention operates after school for 30 minutes and are issued by staff for the following reasons: o Poor Behaviour o Lack of Equipment o Inadequate work o Misuse of a Mobile Phone • Students will be given at least 24 hours’ notice of a School Detention. An automated text will be sent to parents/carers to notify them their child has been issued with a school detention.

School Detention. If a student is placed in In-School Detention (ISD), he /she will be counted present in his/her classes. The student will do all of their work assigned in their classes. They will come to school as they normally do. Students placed in ISD must attend during their scheduled classes, which includes band and athletic blocks. Suspension of Pupils The superintendent and principal of a school shall have the power to suspend a student for good cause or for any reason for which the student might be suspended, dismissed, or expelled by the school board. This action shall be subject to review by the school board. If the parent of the student feels aggrieved by the action taken by school officials, then they have the right to a due process hearing. The parent shall be advised of this right by the principal or superintendent and the proper form shall be provided for requesting such a hearing. This is covered in Code 37-97-1 of the State Department handbook.
School Detention. Any student in grades 9-12 may be kept either before or after school, at the discretion of teachers and with approval of the principal or designee, for classroom or school misconduct. Students shall be given one-day advance notice by detaining teacher/administrator and are responsible for informing their parent(s)/guardian(s). Students who ride the school bus to and from school are subject to the same detention guidelines as those students who walk, drive or otherwise commute to school. It is the parent/ guardian/ custodian’s responsibility to provide transportation for before-school or after- school detention.

  • Criminal History Applicants who have criminal convictions may be denied. Any crimes associated with drugs, violence, sex, property damage, and/or weapons may be grounds for automatic disqualification. Eligibility is dependent upon the level, disposition, and time since the crime occurred. Open cases for similar crimes may be grounds for denial. Credit. A credit check will be performed, and the following may be grounds for denial: past due or dishonored debt, the absence of a credit history, unpaid housing accounts, unpaid utility accounts.
