For the purposes of this clause the regular hours of work are seven (7) hours (unless the shift is greater than seven (7) hours in length in which case overtime is payable for approved hours in excess of the regular hours for such longer shift). Compensation for overtime will be paid at time and one-half (1-1/2) of the employees regular straight time hourly rate. Compensating time off at time and one-half (1-1/2) in lieu of overtime pay may be requested by the employee and shall be granted provided the exigencies of the service enable time off to be granted. Compensating time off can be accumulated up to a maximum of three (3) days, which may be taken consecutively. Such time off may be taken in conjunction with annual vacation, provided it does not prevent another employee from taking scheduled vacation.
