Funeral Leave (Immediate Family. Death in the immediate family (spouse, child, stepchild, parent, grandchildren, grandparents, stepparent, brother, sister, parent in-law, brother-in-law or sister-in-law) not to exceed five (5) days, except in extenuating circumstances with approval of the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. This leave is intended for travel to/from the location of the funeral, attendance and for making funeral arrangements for the service of the above described family members. If two or more funeral leaves for immediate family are used during the contract year and five (5) leave days are used for each, the fifth day of the second leave and the fifth day of any succeeding leaves will be chargeable to sick leave.
Funeral Leave (Immediate Family. Up to three (3) consecutive work days, one to include the date of funeral, for death of any one of the following: mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister, husband, wife. All funeral leaves must be used for funeral purposes and for no other purposes, provided that the employee must present proof of death, if the Board so requests, in order to receive the pay herein referred to. Saturday and/or Sunday shall not be counted as a day of funeral leave. If an actual need for more than three days of funeral leave is substantiated, additional days may be granted by mutual consent of Union and supervisor, but such additional days shall be charged against sick leave
Funeral Leave (Immediate Family. In case of death in the immediate family of a professional employee, an absence of three (3) calendar days, including the day of the funeral. The term "immediate family", as used in this Article and Article XVIII, means husband, wife, parent, grandparent, grandchild, son, daughter, brother, sister or such in-laws and such step-family members. These three (3) funeral days, if used, must be taken within five (5) calendar days immediately following the death. No funeral leave will be paid for any day during school vacation weeks. Notwithstanding the above, for cremation, the three (3) funeral days need not be consecutive, and not necessarily be within the five (5) day framework.

  • Funeral Leave Section 30.1 In the event of the death of a parent, spouse, child, sister, brother, mother-in- law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent of the Employee or spouse, grandchild of the Employee, or “xxxxxx” or “step” members within these relationships, the Employee shall be allowed a leave of absence with pay of two (2) consecutive (eight or ten hour) workdays.

As defined by the FMLA, reasons for an FMLA leave may include an employee's serious health condition, for the care of a child, spouse, or parent who has a serious health condition, and/or for the birth or adoption of a child.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use sick leave credits for family illness or injury only if the employee must provide direct care to an immediate family member. For purposes of family sick leave, “immediate family member” will mean the employee’s parent, spouse, or child, including step-child and xxxxxx child.

  • Family Medical Leave Act Pursuant to the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, an employee who has been employed at least twelve (12) months and worked at least 1,250 hours during the prior 12-month period is entitled to twelve (12) work weeks of leave during any 12-month period without pay but with group health insurance coverage maintained for one or more of the following reasons:

  • Family Leave 1. An Appointing Authority shall grant to a full time or part time employee who has completed his/her probationary period, or if there is no such probationary period, has been employed for at least three consecutive months, an unpaid leave of absence for up to twenty-six (26) weeks in conjunction with the birth, adoption or placement of a child as long as the leave concludes within twelve (12) months following the birth or placement. The ability to take leave ceases when a xxxxxx placement ceases unless the need for additional leave is directly connected to the previous placement.
