Employee leaving during notice period. An Employee whose employment is terminated on account of redundancy may terminate his or her employment during the period of notice by giving at least one week's notice in writing. In this case, the Employee is entitled to the same benefits and payments under this Clause as if remaining with the School, until the expiry of the notice period. The Employee is not entitled to payment in lieu of notice. Where an Employee does not give the appropriate notice and there is no agreement to reduce or waive the notice period, the School may withhold from salaries and allowances such payment of up to one (1) weeks’ wages if it has been authorised by the Employee and is reasonable in the circumstances.

(b) If the employee has been allowed paid leave for more than one day during the notice period for the purpose of seeking other employment, the employee shall, at the request of the employer, be required to produce proof of attendance at an interview or they will not receive payment for the time absent. For this purpose a statutory declaration will be sufficient.
