Emergency Annual Leave (Vacation. Limit three (3) incidents from July 1 to June 30. Emergency annual leave, for the purpose of this procedure, is defined as unexpected unforeseen occurrence of an urgent nature that requires sudden or immediate remedial action. An emergency shall not include absences for which sick leave is to be used [unless all sick leave has been exhausted]. An employee requesting emergency annual leave shall call their supervisor directly to request approval or it will be considered unauthorized LWOP. In the event that an employee is not able to call the supervisor prior to the beginning of their shift, approval must be requested at the earliest possible time thereafter, up to the end of the employee’s regular shift for that day, unless the employee is totally incapacitated. In this instance, the employee must notify their supervisor as soon as medically capable. Upon their return to work, employees must contact their supervisor to notify of their arrival and complete a leave slip stating the reason for the emergency. If an employee’s immediate supervisor is not available, the employee must utilize their chain of command. Employees may notify their supervisor of their arrival by phone call, voice mail, or email. Once approved, employees will be charged emergency annual leave from the beginning of their scheduled start time until the actual arrival and notification to manager/supervisor. Emergency annual leave will not be considered an incident as defined in Section 2 of this procedure, unless it is granted in lieu of sick leave.

  • Annual Leave Loading (a) In addition to their ordinary pay, an employee, other than a shiftworker, will be paid an annual leave loading of 17.5% of their ordinary pay on a maximum of 152 hours/four weeks annual leave per annum.
