Death or Illness in the Immediate Family. Any employee eligible for sick leave benefits as provided in Section 2.01 of Article Two of the Personnel Xxxxxxxxx, may be allowed to be absent from duty for a period not to exceed twenty-four (24.0) working hours and to receive full compensation during such absence upon the necessity for his or her absence being shown to, and with the consent of the employee’s department head in the case of death, or critical illness where death appears imminent, of such employee’s father, stepfather, father-in-law, mother, stepmother, mother-in-law, brother, sister, wife, husband, child, step child, grandfather, grandmother, or former legal guardian. Where such death or critical illness has occurred, the employee shall furnish satisfactory evidence of such death or critical illness to his department head. Such leave of absence shall not be allowed in any case where in the preceding six (6) months, a leave on the grounds of the critical illness of that same relative has been granted. In addition to the absence permitted above in the case of death or critical illness in the immediate family, such employee may also use two days of said employee’s sick leave credits in connection with said 3 days (24 work hours) leave for death or critical illness in the immediate family.

Death or Illness in the Immediate Family. Any employee eligible for sick leave benefits as provided in the Personnel Ordinance or Salary Resolution, may be allowed to be absent from duty for a period not to exceed three (3) working days and to receive full compensation during such absence upon the necessity for his or her absence being shown to, and with the consent of the employee's department head in the case of death, or of critical illness where death appears imminent, of such employee's father, stepfather, father-in-law, mother, stepmother, mother-in-law, brother, sister, wife, husband, child, step child, grandfather, grandmother, grandchild, great grandfather, great grandmother, xxxxxx child, former legal guardian or same-sex domestic partner. The City shall administer this section of the MOU in accordance with the California Family Code section 297.5 for registered same-sex domestic partners. Where such death or critical illness has occurred, the employee shall furnish satisfactory evidence of such death or critical illness to his department head. Such leave of absence shall not be allowed in any case where in the preceding six (6) calendar months, a leave on the grounds of the critical illness of that same relative has been granted. In addition to the absence permitted above in the case of death or critical illness in the immediate family, such employee may also use two working days of said employee's sick leave credits in connection with said three days leave for death or critical illness in the immediate family.

  • Illness in the Immediate Family ‌ An employee may use up to one-half of his or her annual sick leave allocation in any calendar year in the event of illness or a spouse, child, parent, or domestic partner. At the City's request the employee will provide satisfactory evidence of the facts justifying such absence.

  • Death in the Immediate Family The teacher may take a maximum of five (5) sick days per death at the time of the death. Immediate family shall be interpreted as mother, father, husband, wife, grandparents, grandchild, child, sister, and brother of teacher and/or his/her spouse. One (1) of these days must be the funeral day.

Up to three (3) days of sick leave may be used by a teacher for each serious illness of a member of that teacher's immediate family or birth of a child of a teacher.   • Death in Immediate Family A regularly scheduled employee may be granted up to five days of leave of absence with pay by the Agency/Department Head because of death in the immediate family. An employee shall be allowed to take such leave within a four week period. For purposes of this subsection, "immediate family" means mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, wife, domestic partner (upon submission of an affidavit as defined in the appendices), son, stepson, daughter, stepdaughter, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, or any other person sharing the relationship of in loco parentis; and, when living in the household of the employee, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Entitlement to leave of absence under this subsection shall be only for all hours the employee would have been scheduled to work for those days granted, and shall be in addition to any other entitlement for sick leave, emergency leave, or any other leave.

  • Illness in the Family Where no one at home other than the employee can provide for the needs during illness of an immediate member of her family, an employee shall be entitled after notifying her supervisor, to use a maximum of five (5) accumulated sick leave days per illness to care for the member of the family who is ill.

  • Immediate Family Immediate family includes husband, wife, child, stepchild, brother, brother-in-law, stepbrother, sister, sister-in-law, stepsister, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, parent, stepparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or any person serving as a parent, or who has served as a parent, or any other close person living in the same household as the employee.

  • Illness in Family A leave of absence without pay up to one (1) year shall be granted for the purpose of caring for a sick member of the secretary's immediate family. Additional leave may be granted at the discretion of the Board.

  • Death in the Family The Administrator shall be entitled to a maximum of three (3) days at any one time in the event of an administrator’s son-in-law, daughter-in-law, father-in- law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, or grandparents death, and up to five (5) consecutive days leave in the event of the death of an administrator’s spouse, child, brother, sister, or parent.

  • Damage to personal clothing An employee shall be reasonably compensated for damage to personal clothing worn on duty, or reimbursed dry cleaning charges for excessive soiling to personal clothing worn on duty, provided the damage or soiling did not occur as a result of the employee’s negligence, or failure to wear the protective clothing provided. Each case shall be determined on its merits by the employer.
