Temporary Medical Leave. If the purpose of the leave is covered by Section 9.2 (FMLA), an employee may apply for a temporary medical leave upon submission of medical evidence. A temporary medical leave is defined as one that exceeds any period of medical leave to which the employee is entitled under FMLA or sick leave days (including sick bank days, if approved), whichever is greater. The temporary medical leave may be granted at the discretion of the Board. This leave is unpaid except to the extent that the employee qualifies for the disability benefits through IMRF. Except in the case of an emergency, the employee should inform the Board of his/her desire for such leave no later than thirty days prior to the commencement of such temporary medical leave. Upon the District’s request, an employee who has been granted medical leave shall present statement(s) to the Board of the employee’s continuing inability to work. An employee returning from temporary medical leave is required to submit written statement(s) from his/her physician(s) that he/she is physically able to resume regular employment. The returning employee shall either resume their prior position, if available, or be assigned to another opening in the same job title. If neither is available then the employer shall find a position in another job title for which the employee is qualified, and the employee shall continue therein until a position becomes available in the prior job title. Salary placement upon return shall be at the same step and pay grade as occupied before the leave.

Temporary Medical Leave. Employees may be granted temporary unpaid medical leave up to three (3) months without loss of accrued benefits or seniority and with the right to return to his/her prior position. The Employer may require a physician’s written report as basis for this leave. An employee on temporary medical leave may use their accrued comp-time, sick or annual leaves.

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.

  • Sabbatical Leaves 49. Members taking their first Sabbatical Leave after a probationary period at The University of Western Ontario shall receive 90.0% of their Base Salary; Members taking their second or subsequent Sabbatical Leave from The University of Western Ontario shall receive 85.0% of their Base Salary.
