STUDY AND RESEARCH LEAVE. Leaves of absence without pay, not to exceed one (1) year may be granted to tenured teachers upon application for the purpose of study and research. Upon return from such leave, a teacher shall be placed in the same position on the salary schedule as he would have been had he taught in the district during such period; e.g., a teacher on step 5 before the leave would be placed on step 7 upon return from the leave.

STUDY AND RESEARCH LEAVE. A leave of absence without pay shall be granted upon approval for the purpose of study and research. Upon expiration of said leave, a teacher will be placed on the staff in any position for which he/she is certified, if an opening exists. A teacher shall return from such leave with the same seniority and sick leave accumulation as when the leave was granted. In order to apply for leave, a teacher must be on tenure and have a minimum of three (3) years’ seniority in the system. Teachers who have been granted a study or research leave, will take graduate courses no less than (6) semester hours per semester, and will attend two (2) full semesters. For the writing of a dissertation and other special projects, the above can be waived by approval of the Administration.
